Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Too many patients have said I look too young to be in medical school. Seriously? I am 24! I am old enough to be here.

I have decided to grow a beard to stop this nonsense of critiquing my age.

It's jealousy that they are expressing because they realize they feel and look old... Haters.

This is unrelated to anything being currently discussed, but I realized today that I have been using the same Gillette Fusion blade for going on 3 years now. I'm just going to keep using it until it doesn't cut anymore.

Time to become a man.

For a grand total of $107 (there are some cheaper options if you want to cut down on costs, you can go down to like $60 if you want), you get 100 razor blades that are sharper and better quality than those fusion pieces of ****. You get enough material to shave for months until you run out of shaving cream. If you shave every day and toss out a razor blade once a week (way overkill, IMO), you will be good for almost 1 year. The brush and the shaving handle will last several years easily as long as you let the brush dry on the stand facing downwards.

Pros: cheaper in long run, significantly better shave, feel like a man.

I understand what you are saying, but how could it be cheaper than spending about 4 bucks (about the cost of one blade) every 3 years? Plus, now it is an experiment. I want to see how long it will last. Haha

Is that learned from the Ancient One as well?

Haha, that's exactly what I did when school started, and it worked like a charm. Unfortunately my fiancee hates beards and made me shave, but I'll probably re-grow one anyway.

Just curious, how do the MS2's at your schools treat the MS1's? Some of my classmates and I get a very douschy, superior vibe from the MS2's as a whole. I guess we are the only ones they actually know more than.

Sorry to hear that. Our MS2s are kind of like loving older siblings. I mean maybe not that tight but they seem to be pretty unfailingly awesome.

Yeah same, all of the MS2s have been super friendly and helpful. Maybe they're just starting to freak about about step I and taking it out on everyone?

Does anyone else hate 3 day weekends? They just load every other day with more material.
On the bright side I only have 7 more weeks of this block and then two 4 week blocks and I'm done with first year :zip:

Yeah they've pretty much been dumping on us all week since we have Monday off.

Same. We've been loaded up all this week, and it doesn't help that I've been sick. Ugh.

Yep, they do the same to us as well on 3 day weekends. However, we don't get MLK day off at my school. We actually happen to have a block exam on MLK day. Fun, fun.

Seems like every block, physio gets harder. Doing respiratory now and I feel like I've reached learning capacity.

I didn't mind respiratory too much, renal was annoying because of all the damn ion transporters, and GI has been annoying because of all the signaling molecules that are produced by different cells with one letter names.

I just got behind and have to catch up. Renal was bad, but it's over now. GI is next and I'm not looking forward to it. Bright side: just 4 months until MS1 is over!

I tried to help the applicants in my school specific page know when interviews will end since the med students have access to what days interviews will happen ( to get us to show up and talk to them). One of them insists I am wrong and says interviews will go on for another week or so after I said they end since he got an email with those dates in it months ago.

I mean, what do I know.

First medical student gossip/scandal at my school happened today. You can read about it here. Some people are pretty upset at what our fellow student said about the others that are into football. I mean, we can't focus on school all the time. You have to have fun/distract yourself sometimes.

Lol, not sure I'd want to out myself to my whole medical school class as a condescending tool bag in such a fashion.

Well, the comment section has a few comments from others that are bashing him. Here's one that stands out:
This medical student guy sounds like just what the doctor ordered, if only the medical profession was limited to the diagnosis and treatment of robot illnesses. Or perhaps diseases of vegetables or minerals. Most actual human beings would flee the clinic, rather than embrace this humorless killjoy attitude and narrow view.
Or this one
I will say, though, that the UW medical student sounds like a complete no-fun-nik.
But on a serious note, I don't take his quotes as an attack on me. It is just his view. Personally, I wouldn't want this to come up when someone googles my name (like many patients will do). To each his own.

I like this comment:

"I'm not a fan of opera, macramé or vegan food... but I don't feel any need to attack or deride those that enjoy them."

And really.. this kind of thing doesn't happen every day or even every year for that matter. People need to lighten up.

He says most of his interview was actually him talking about TBI, but the only thing that made the cut was the two minutes he was talking trash about football.

I gotta agree with him that newer Seahawks gear is kind of tacky. I don't know where the hell this fluorescent lime green came from. I always thought blue & green was referencing the ocean & forests, and our forests are definitely not that color. #buzzkillington

Yeah, but the whole publicly denouncing the medical students that left the conference to watch the game is what has left a bad taste in my and other medical school football fans' mouth. Normally I have a few people over on Sundays to watch the game and we have been upset since he seems to suggest we should be doing something else like studying or exercising. Who cares if those students left the conference. It shouldn't matter to him and he definitely doesn't need to say it to a journalist.
