That's about how many I have. I haven't totally decided when to quit. Possibly mid June? Late June?

I'm leaving my job June 28th....hello 5 week vacation before the real fun begins.
So . . . what are peoples' opinions about those lame-Os on SDN who aren't actually applying to medical school, but their spouse/SO/family member is applying, and they just want to know more about the process because their spouse/SO/family member refuses to "do" SDN because they're not as crazy and type A? Just asking, you know, on behalf of a friend.
Yeah, I am dipping out on the 14th of June. I need some relaxation time.
Decided to let my facial hair grow out for the next few weeks before I move and start anatomy in June. Never done it before since it grows kinda sparsely, but I figured now's as good a time as I'll find. I won't be seeing anyone here for years to come. Plenty of time to live down the scraggly almost-beard that I'm sure will result. Lol

Is this going to be you?
Just decided, June 17 is my last day. So excited....... And scared.
I hear ya, hopefully I wont run out of money this summer.

She taught several of my classes and labs last year. Towards the end of the fall semester, she was diagnosed with ALS. Despite that, she continued teaching and running the department for another year.
She wrote me a letter of recommendation. 🙁
My heart was breaking at this last night. She's been through so much crap... She should have left while she had the chance!
Ugh that's like my fear. Bad planning and running out of money BEFORE I move in anywhere.
I am letting my facial hair grow out too. That's what started this whole changing my avatar every week.
Speaking of which, here's week #2 avatar pic.
In better news, I found a potential place for next year at a decent price. Going to see it tomorrow... Also trying to figure out how much I want to spend on an Ikea spree. 🙂
Didn't I make that one?

I approve 👍
I had a beard for a few months and just recently shaved it off. I loved it. My girlfriend hated it.
It's a little weird seeing new threads pop up about applying for the upcoming cycle, knowing we won't be a part of it.
At the same time though, I am extremely grateful I don't have to go through that process again. Until 4th year that is...

For some reason I keep telling myself that residency apps won't be as bad...but I'm pretty sure they will. I think I'll be a better/more informed applicant than I was for med school, but the match sounds rough.
Im just focusing on surviving MS1 for now. And then Step 1. And then residency apps.
With a whole lot of panicking in between all those.
Yeah I may or may not have already started playing with Anki and looking into Firecracker...
😳

Dont you have to pay for Firecracker?
Yeah it's like $250 a year I think.
That's some $$$

Seriously. I actually am actually realizing that when I subtract out move-in costs I only have enough money to get me through June...financial aid disburses at the end of August 😳
Really, that late? When do you start?
Yeah.
Though if it works it's just a drop in the bucket. A few hundred bucks isn't bad if it'll help on the exam that potentially decides my income bracket for the rest of my career. I believe you get a 30 day trial period, so I'll definitely check it out before buying.

I thought that was how most schools did it. So far all I've heard is to have some $$ saved up since you won't have access to financial aid right away.
Interesting... I didn't know that. Looks like I really do need to cash out all of my vacation time instead of using it 👎
PTO is going into moving truck cost, gas and signing a lease.
Ooooh 30 day trials... I like it!
Moving costs are the reason that I am working past mid May. And the end of August seems a bit late? Does your program not begin until sometime in September?
Yep, sounds about right haha.
It just started raining and I have another 3/4ish miles to walk before I get to my car. This probably won't end well.
Yep. Her program starts at the beginning of September.
Oh is that at Udub?
Yeah, specifically the Seattle campus.
I may start in beginning to mid August.
