My avatar was meant to get chicks and not dudes lol

I don't think it's working for you bud :meanie:

How about a picture of Charlie Sheen?

btw elcapone i'd really like to hear the story behind your mcat score? how did you get research so fast? before school started even!

1. I got really lucky I guess. I'll PM you the details but I took all the science AP classes I could and they helped a bunch.

2. I live like right next to the college I'll be attending (like 2 mins away) so I decided to go there and I met a bunch of cool grad students during a college tour. So we chatted away since their work seemed pretty interesting and they told me to email a bunch of professors in their department for research openings. One thing led to another and I started working with one of their PIs as a RA, but right now, I'm going through training, which means doing a lot of scut work (washing dishes and cleaning instruments).

a little bit of your time --maroon 5 🙂

lame. when do u guys start school

well... i have to say. i read through the first page or so of responses to this thread, and then hopped to the last page, and i kind of feel bad. if all goes as planned, i'll end up being within the class of 2019. however, i've been attending college now for almost two years, have changed majors, and am almost 24 years old. i think this is a great place to be for someone just starting out. i've learned a lot as a guest for a very long time. i have my full 4 years of undergad ahead of me due to the major change, and i've started volunteering 7 hours a week at the local hospital already. i do understand that it's so far away, and it's just so much work ahead of us, however, i feel as though this thread is still pretty cool at that. it means that there is others out there just as scared/new/confused/excited/looking for expertise, just as much as i am!👍 (PS - sorry if that sounds lame. i'm really not, i swear....) haha

Dang you're gonna finish undergrad at 28? What did you switch to/from/why?

i know, it makes me feel horrible every single time i think about it. but yes, it's a true story. i was a Nursing major. but i ended up realizing #1, that it was no where near challenging enough for me, #2, it was not what i wanted to dedicate my life to, and #3, 23 years old or not, i refused to waste any more time, and i switched that day. i've never been happier. undergrad at 28 or not, this is what i love, and this is what i'm going to do.

you make it sound as if 28 is too old? go to the non trad forum and see people starting med school at 40.

You are on the right track. Just do well on your classes, ace the mcat and get some Ec's under your belt. good luck

Second of all, why are people still posting on this thread? Isn't it... a little early?

never too early. especially when it comes to preparing for med school.
