I've been using it and it's made memorizing lists much faster. It allows me to memorize long lists quickly too.

Here's an example:

List the drugs that cause type III tissue reactions:
Penicillin
Sulfa drugs
Anticonvulsants
Barbiturates
Iodine
Insulin
Anti-lymphocyte globulins
Streptokinase

This used to be a nightmare to memorize in Anki, always getting 6 or 7 out of 8 right, but having to see the entire list again instead of the one or two you keep forgetting.

I think this seems particularly strong for memorizing things like biochemical pathways and drug mechanisms.

You're right, but an advantage of this add on is that it allows you to customize the context in which you learn the list, but it tests you on both individual parts of the list and the entire list as a whole. Your knowledge of the list gets doubly reinforced this way.

For example, you can choose to make it such that the term immediately above or below (or even both) the term you're learning is shown when you're reviewing that particular term. It gives you context to solidify where it is in the list. It's almost like using an image to reinforce a fact you're learning. However, another card is automatically made that tests you on the entire list with no context whatsoever. I'm not articulating it that well, but he shows it in the video.

Give you absolutely no context for which of the 4 items you are trying to remember. While this:

Penicillin
Sulfa drugs
...
Barbiturates

Give you all of them but 1, so you might actually know the other one or you might just be getting it based on having all of the other context around it.

For this example also, the order is not important. The main thing is that we remember penicillin (and all the other 7) cause type III tissue reactions. Therefore, I would argue that making a card that says “penicillin can cause type ... tissue reactions” would work better. You could even put the whole list in the extra box.

No need to remember penicillin is number one on that list. It would be annoying to me to get the card wrong simply because I forgot sulfa drugs are number 2 and penicillin is number 1 when the order doesn’t even matter.

Just my 2 cents. Obviously, if you guys find that add on helpful keep using it.

I sometimes use image occlusion for stuff like this. Like insert a text that says this, block out the items and make them into cards. Sounds like this would be an easier way to accomplish the same thing. Giving it a whirl...
