I’m starting the big move on Monday. 😱
May god speed you!

I'm narrowing down my apartment list this weekend. The one positive aspect of covid is the fact that vacant apartments are generally staying vacant for longer so I have a little more ability to wait.

I thought I was the only one who still hadn't secured housing. Phew. Glad to know there are also others out there.

Same base thinking, but different locale. My school has one but... ya.... so looking for my own. Any tips/ advice on how you went about finding a reputable one?
White coat investor or Physicians on FIRE.

I got my CFP, CPA and doctor’s mortgage all through those sites. We have such unique debt & income variables that I wouldn’t suggest using anyone who doesn’t have a track record of working with doctors.

Apparently the Lion King (1994) soundtrack is appropriate tonight. XD

@Oedipa Maas i would be interested in hearing about move updates lol. I’m moving at the end of the month and haven’t made any effort to pack yet
Got off to a late start yesterday due to some issues with the truck rental but still drove 300 miles. We had packed leisurely over the course of the month and then really ramped it up the last two days before the move. Our goal today is 700 miles and we are a little under halfway there. We packed a lot of jerky, cliff bars, apples, nuts, and other snacks so we haven’t had to stop for food. Not much is open anyway because of the virus. Occasional pretty scenery and I saw my first pronghorn so that’s my excitement for today haha. If you are doing a long drive, book the hotels online a little bit before you get to the destination. This is the first time I’ve experienced a difference in online booking price and in person booking price with the hotel not honoring the online rate. Stood in a hotel lobby just before midnight last night booking it on my phone while the clerk watched...

Just be careful booking from third party sites. Last time I did that the hotel never even got the reservation and I ended up paying more for the same room.

That's impressive. I should do that more. Fast food is a staple for me when I travel. I can't explain why but it just tastes so much better when in transit lol

because you can eat it guilt-free. ain't no one got a working kitchen to cook a full meal in their car

It’s mostly due to COVID paranoia tbh, knowing that some of these places aren’t doing extra PTO or even just time off for illness during a pandemic has me concerned. Usually when I road trip I do a mix of both fast food and packed snacks. And some of it is definitely sour gummy worms.

COVID hasnt really slowed down my bad eating habits (well, i guess we do cook more because.. i have no excuse not to lol). Take out Mexican tonight (they provided free churros with my order..)

Also just finished watching The Office for the first time. Idk what to move onto next

What kind of show are you looking for?

If you want something short and completely different than The Office, The Outsider on HBO was fantastic. Based on the Stephen King novel.

If you want a show with a few seasons, The Good Place is fantastic.

If you like Star Trek, the first season Picard just finished a few weeks ago, and it was good stuff. Also for Star Wars, The Mandalorian was very good.

If you want comedy I also second the good place. If you want something in the same vain as the office parks and rec is also fantastic.

For dramas I'm watching Ozark, during quarantine I've watched a few docuseries (How to Fix a Drug Scandal was really good). For comedies I've been working through Always Sunny and I watched Brockmire (if you at all like sports and or the work of Hank Azaria).

And, of course, I finally finished Scrubs (just not that last Dave Franco season).

I recommend 30 rock, parks and rec, and Seinfeld. They’re my favorite shows along with the office.

The good place is great

I love The Good Place as well, but did anybody else have mini existential crises while watching that show? Was it just me?

Ha. Definitely not just you. I had some real emotional reactions to that show.

Have watched a lot of really good shows in the last year. Jack Ryan, You, Sex Education, Stranger Things, Ozark, and Narcos. Currently watching Homeland which has also been good.

Anyone else watch any of these shows? Thoughts? You is really creepy but also really good

That's it, you've peaked.

My mom keeps telling me to watch Ozark because I love Jason Bateman.

Love stranger things. They do suspense and cliff hangers so well and I always binge watch the new seasons when they come out.

Feels that way. Had a pre-employment appointment at my hospital today and i had to get blood drawn while I was there and wasnt expecting it....

Wow, this thread about ERAS anxiety has taken an interesting and exciting turn.
Dear Mr. Hallowmann,

We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole year in stress purgatory for undertaking the journey that is MSIV, but we think you're crazy thinking this thread would go any other way once it was all over. You see us as you want to see us: in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a neurologist, a psychiatrist, a family medicine doc, an internist, some surgeons and like three more psychiatrists and internists. Does that address your statement?

Sincerely yours,
The ERAS Panic Thread

My current ERAS anxiety is driven by the fact I, 1) have still not signed a contract, and 2) have done absolutely ZERO onboarding paperwork.
Mine is driven by learning that we aren’t officially “hired” until our training license is done and I haven’t been able to get fingerprinted for that yet and processing time can take up to 8 weeks...

This is giving me 2nd hand anxiety.

NOOOO!! You guys were doing so good! Go back to talking about shows
I’ve been on a real cartoon kick lately. Tuca and Bertie got me started on it. Then I rewatched all of Bojack Horseman and the new final season. Then I needed the polar opposite of that so I’ve been watching Bob’s Burgers which has been some delightful escapism.

I LOVED Bojack Horseman. Tuca and Bertie was just okay. Bob's Burgers is a modern day classic.

That’s exciting! Apartment or house?
Apartment! It’s a three story house that was divided into one apartment per story. Charm/aesthetics are really important to us and it’s a cute turn of the century place! We originally were hoping for a two bedroom but there was nothing that met our requirements that was also available when I needed to move so it’s a one bedroom again. It is otherwise perfect though and the housemates and landlord all seem like the loveliest people.

Did they renovate it so every level has its own kitchen and stuff?
