Hey all, I was just wondering. I know there are some BS/MD programs in the nation, but are there any programs like this that offer a BS/DMD? or a DDS. Any links would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I think UOP has a program like that.

Tufts and Temple do. I think most schools have them; just putz around each school's web site for details.

UF does, a 7 year program actually. That is, University of Florida.

Buffalo SDM has a program with a couple of other undergrad school in NYS for a 7 year program. You do your first 3 years at either Canisius COllege, SUNY geneseo, utica college, and osme others and then do your 4 at buffalo. You get your bachelors after completing year one of UB dental.

I have actually applied to canisus and geneseo, and hopefully will get into this 7 year program with one of these schools...in the meantime, while waiting for admissions decisisons I will need to go shadow a dentist for a while 😎

I think OHSU and UD mercy might have a 7year program as well.

Have you thought about what to specialize yet? It's hard for me. I work in a dental institute, where I see a lot of dentists every week. They will tell you different things when you ask them what to specialize. I mean, I know the market changes a lot, next few years might be favorable for oral surgeon, and less favorable for endo, but honestly what do you guys think? BTW, I heard cosmetic make a lot of bucks, what specialization would do cosmetic.

The dentists I know that typically do cosmetic dentistry are general dentists. Conversations I have had with one dentist in particular, one of the top cosmetic dentists in my area according to other dentists, explained that he has spent probably 120k+ over the last 10 years attending different classes and schools to get to the level that he is at today.

Speaking of cosmetic dentistry and the ridiculous amount of money people are willing to spend on a nice smile. The above dentist I mentioned, that happens to be my wife's employer, recently did a cosmetic case on a husband and wife that were probably in their late 60's early 70's. They both wanted full sets of veniers and spent 98k, cash mind you, to get those pearly whites.
