let's get this party started 👍
nice!!! I also have a very nice set of chips (clay style-heavy, just like the casinos) with denominations on them, so if we need some more, I can bring them. How about a poker night on tuesday before orientation, or maybe one of those nights after orientation? any thoughts? I'll be at Western today for my financial aid counselor appt, I'll try to find out as much as I can about books and stuff and post it here. lateLifeLongPassion said:I just picked up the illest poker set from costco!

I'm all for getting together on Tuesday night. Maybe we can do it at lifelong's place since he has the poker stuff. What do you say lifelong?Dr. Don said:alright people so I was looking into the orientation booklet and it looks like orientation starts wednesday august 4th-friday august 6th. Which means that we have monday, tuesday (all day) off, wednesday/friday night off. So, who here would like to get together tuesday afternoon (or any of those free nights) for a kickback/poker? I guess the other questions is where? I'm still trying to get my place nice and ready (and it's a little too small 🙁 ) so unfortunately I can't have it at my place YET. I'm very excited that school is about to start soon....but I'll also like to relax and have some fun before the "overload" begins, so any takers? Sense, what's up? ready to do this? JMC man, clay chips are the best, my set cost me like $150, so trust me, they feel really good. I guess all we would really need is some waittresses to serve some drinks and we are all sethey ladies, any takers? I'm a good tipper 😉 alright let a brother know and hopefully we can get this thing rolling.

I'm pretty excited also that school is finally starting. Did everyone already check out blackboard? Most of our classes have their notes up already.
i picked them up yesterday tooDr. Don said:sounds like a plan, what do you say lifelong? party at your place?
I haven't checked the blackboard yet, but I will. By the way did you guys get the anatomy notes from Dr. Bales? I went to COMP yesterday and picked them up. I got a nice little feeling inside of me because I realized that those were my first set of "med school" notes I was getting my hands on. BRING ON THE KNOWLEDGE!! See you guys soon,
Dr. DOn

Does this make any sense?
aecuenca said:oh, while I'm at it, I should post up the chain of command to follow. Very, very important to do it this way. If not, they won't listen and they'll be pissed off.
starting from the bottom, going up the ranks:
Academics:
1. Professor teaching the course
2. Course Coordinator
3. Head of Academics: Dr. Kiick
Administration/Student Affairs:
1. Head of Student Affairs: Gisele Tackoor
2. Dean: Dr. Lenz
3. Vice-President: Dr. Charney
4. President: Dr. Pumerantz
Again, whomever you elect to be your class leaders (which I am willing to bet anything will be people from ISAC for the first semester) need to follow this chain of command. Not adhering to this policy will lead to GRAVE consequences..... 🙂

One more thing, so I was looking over our orientations booklet and for a second i thought I was goin nuts cuz on one page it said aug 4 (1-5 p.m.) we had student processin then on the next page it said on aug 4 (1-5 p.m.) we had OMM structural exams so I called Tonii at student affairs and she freaked out cuz nobody caught this mistake earlier and she said she had to attend to this matter immediately and figure out what went wrong with the schedulin'...i didn't mean to freak her out but i was just curious which page was the right one
oh well
anybody else catch that?

Thanks for that great advice caseous. I'll probably get the computer version of Stedman then and hold off on the first two books. 👍caseousnecrosis said:Hey there! I am a MSII, and I just wanted to answer your question about those two books. Don't bother buying those books....yet. Eventually you may want to get the Bates book, but that will be later on when you start ICM. I don't think we started ICM until later on in the semester. So far I've been fine without the Bates book. I went to the school library once to read their book (which is a reference book only) and I didn't get much out of it.
Also, as far as the medical dictionaries go, I prefer Stedman's dictionary. I bought the book version of Stedman's and honestly it's been just sitting on my shelf. HOWEVER, I got the disk version of Stedman's from a second year, and it has been my SAVING GRACE! I LOVE IT! I use the computer version every day. So, I highly recommend getting the computer version. Better yet, wait until school starts and get it from your wonderful second years! 😛 I know I'll be giving away as much notes/cd's/old tests as I possibly can to help you guys out! Enjoy your challenging but great year! I'll see you all soon.![]()
