I have good stats (3.85, 34) and strong clinical experience but am somewhat lacking in research (I have a little but it is not extensive). I am looking to add a couple borderline mid/top tier schools as reaches but I want to choose ones where I have a realistic chance. Does someone have any suggestions for competitive schools that are less concerned about looking for applicants with extensive research experience?

The ranking system is really based on the amount of research funding the schools get. You probably won't find a highly ranked school that doesn't care about research.

If you want a mid-tier, consider Rochester. They pride themselves in being the "liberal arts college of medical schools" (maybe that means less research emphasis--who knows?).
