Completed app. in early Sept., and only 1 interview so far???

I originally finished my AADSAS app. in first week of June, completed in mid June, and took my DAT in early July.
Basically my whole application should have been completed by then, but in August I found out that my recommendation letters were not complete (got messed up with LOE matching forms f***...) and my whole application actually was completed in early September, just because of the freaking rec. letters.

And until now I had only one interview at MWU-IL and no interview invites so far, when I applied to 20 schools (only one rejection (UCSF) so far).

Guys, I'm getting scared now. Can anyone tell me what's happening? Some guys tell me no news is good news, but I'm not convinced.

oGPA: 3.45
sciGPA: 3.38
AA: 20 TS: 21 PAT: 21 RC: 18
100+ volunteering/shadowing and other just typical school activities, not so much significant.

what are your stats, what leadership positions have you had, how many hours of community service, hours shadowing, what state are you from.......? all things that contribute to getting interviews. the late application doesnt help either.

on a more positive note, a lot of schools are still reviewing apps and there will be plenty of post december interviews still. not time to start worrying yet. plus midwestern IL said that they interview about 400 and will have to accept over 300 people to fill their spots since they are such a new school. so you have a 3/4 chance of eventually getting in there

Your numbers are fairly average/above average. How are your activities? Are you keeping in contact with the schools to show your interest in them?

No, I thought just calling them would annoy them, and moreover I think the people who receive calls are not actually helpful to our admission chance by any means, are they?...I dunno probably I should give a round of calls to all schools tomorrow

Seems odd to me. Some predents at my school have simular stats but have 4+ interviews. But remember, it only takes one.

Also, I don't call schools to "show my interest". I think that would just piss them off, however, seems like a popular thing among SDNers.

One thing I wish I had known before/earlier is that dental schools don't call you three months ahead of time to schedule an interview. They give you a week to three week notice before the interview.

I like everything this guy said, and advise you to pay attention to all of this. Don't panic. It's out of your hands. Time seems like your enemy but it's actually on your side now.

No one can really tell you why you haven't got more interviews bc. no one really knows. There are many people out there who would be happy to receive one single interview. The people on sdn that receive 4+ interviews are exceptions and since they are those who post most on sdn one might think you need to have 4+ interviews or you are screwed. Take a deep breath. Focus on the school you had an interview at and hopefully you will get in on Dec.1. At the end of the day you can only attend one school so even if you get 20 acceptances it makes it only worse because then you will go crazy about which one to choose
I would call up the schools and ask them about the status of your application though. That never hurts and sometimes something is missing on your application and you won't find out until you call them.

Check out this thread that I made last year for late submitters and you can see that me and many others got interview invites mostly around Decmeber/January. YOU HAVE TIME!! Trust me they'll get around to you within the next 60 days.......

I applied to Temple, Pitts, BU, Tufts, Case, NYU, Stony Brook, UNC, Buffalo, Columbia, USC, Maryland, OSU, UMDNJ, etc.
I had only one interview at Midwestern-IL so far...damn.

I really want to go to BU, Tufts, or NYU. What do you guys think of my chance

Listen, your not the only one with your circumstance. As others have said before, and has said in other similar threads, you applied late and should thus expect and hope for post-december interviews which is not at all unlikely. I'm in the same boat as well. Just sit tight and wait.

Hey, I didn't have time to read through all the post, but this has been my experience: Applying early is one of the most important factors for acceptance. I had a close friend who applied in September last year and only interviewed at one school in January. This year, they applied in June with almost the exact same application and was offered 9 pre-dec 1st interviews.

At this point, there is nothing you can do about it, but it's nice to know that IF you don't get an acceptance this year, there is a really easy way to change it for next year. Good luck.
