Hello everyone I have a question I have an 83% in English research composition but I failed one of my essays with a 58% the essays are worth 15% of my grade I have right now in this class without the essay I have an 83% but I have two more essays left plus a reflection assignment that worth 10% of my grade I really want to pass the class because it's a pre-requirement for medical school. What should I do? will I be able to pass the class with the remaining assignments I have left I don't want it to look bad for medical schools? Plus I don't want to retake it

You are already passing. Do you mean will you be able to get an A or is your 83 not counting your low essay score?

Do you know how to calculate weighted grades?

These all sound like questions for your instructor or academic advisor.

Where are you in the semester? If it’s too late to drop the class, then you don’t have a lot of options: you do the best you can and hope you pass and don’t need to retake it.

Most of your questions are not answerable by anyone here. You should talk to the teacher. Isn’t the semester just about over? What is your grade with the 58%? Why are you leaving it out of your grade calculation? Do you your very best on the final assignments. That’s really all you can do.

In my experience, most humanities profs don’t put hard cutoffs on the syllabus. They go with whatever direction the wind is blowing.

Read On Writing Well. It will help your essay grades (and writing) in the future
