I didn't because I'm not brown-nosing him. 😉

Nevertheless, I trust he'll do a good job. Yes, he's pretty frank with people but, honestly, if anything mod'ing may teach him something. And, really, he's been here long enough and does give good advice, redirects people well, etc.

Really, dude, while I empathize with your frustration, I think you should just cut it out. Everyone has their faults. Give him a few weeks before you start passing judgment on him OR on the SDN staff for selecting him. If he ends up making the place miserable and people start complaining, the position will likely be revoked; however, I honestly don't see that happening. If you feel you could do things better, apply to be a mod yourself (under your regular account) and regardless, instead of being a coward and creating a new account for this, you should at least make your statement in full view of everyone. The fact is that unless you're logged in via a proxy, every SDN staff member (incl. Bleargh) can easily figure out who you are (assuming they haven't already) by simply looking at your IP address as well as numerous other indicators (e.g., user agent string submitted to the site, log on/off patterns, etc.).

Honestly...those aren't that bad. The fact is that what he's referring to there has been a major problem on pre-allo recently. Perhaps, you're one of the people he's told to stop whining or do a little research yourself....

That's just a small taste of the stuff he posts. Luckily, I haven't been on the receiving end of bleargh's posts (yet). But that doesn't mean that I can't find his responses to be pretty rude. You don't see the other mods making rude posts like that or that frequently.

I mean, yea, I'll concede that he does provide useful info sometimes. But the manner in which he does so is, IMO, not mod material.

Not very. Bleargh and I will probably have a conflict over something on a thread soon enough. It tends to happen on occasion. At the same time, I think this guy is being WAY oversensitive/overreactive here.

the mods can look at the IP address and figure out the real profile by determining which accounts share the same IP address? is that how it works?
 
I may not agree with the way Neurosurg is presenting is argument, however his points are not entirely invalid. If he believes that there are other better suited candidates for moderator, a point which could certainly be argued, then he has the right to say so.

a lot of the time mods will refuse action in an episode like this when they're being called out

It's true. bleargh doesn't have to be the one to drop the hammer, and having multiple accounts is a violation of TOS, regardless of the direct call out.
