Hi guys, it is about that time for Cornell to announce acceptances so I figured I would open a thread for those waiting like me. Any news, please post here.
Good luck!!!:luck:

I thought we weren't supposed to hear anything until the end of January?

That may be the case this year, but for the last two years the dean has called people around this time--even before the new year. Things have changed a little over there with the new admissions director, but I have a feeling the notifications will come soon. Either way, they are one of the earlier notification schools. So good luck!! Hopefully we will get the call soon!!!

I got a phone call today (he tried to call yesterday and left a message) from the Dean of the vet school telling me I'd been accepted. Good luck to everyone who's waiting and I hope you get good news too!!

Wow! Congrats!

👍 👍 👍 That's awesome!!!👍 👍 👍

Did your status page ever change, that you know of, or did they just call?

keeping fingers crossed,

Congratulations!!! Wonderful news.

Thanks everyone! I just checked the application tracking page and mine still says "Your application is currently in the review process. If you have not submitted all of your documents, please do so now. We hope to have a decision by the end of January." So looks like it may just be a phone call - at any time. My missed call was at 8.40pm.

Congratulations!!!!
Now the calls will start, I am crossing my fingers for all

I wonder if that means they've called everyone that they've accepted this year.

I called them on Friday...they said that the list is not finalized and that we would start hearing this coming week or the following week. There is still hope I think.

Well, the wait is truly horrible! If rejection is in my imminent future I wish they would just let the axe fall already.

I just got the call from the dean! I have been accepted into Cornell!!!!

Thanks guys. It feels like a dream come true.

I wish the best to everyone still waiting.

congrats UpstateNY!! 😀

Congratulations! That's fabulous!

Just curious how many people are still waiting on a response. It doesn't seem like there are many of us. Are you in-state or out? (I am from CA).
I called to ask for the latest and they said we should all know good or bad by the end of the week:scared:
I hope everyone hears good news...

:luck: to all those waiting...
👍 to all those in!

I know everytime I see cornell brought back up, i freak out (because I haven't heard anything) . sorry guys, I just want to know who's with me on this unbearable wait.

Stressful, but at least you'll all know. I don't remember that many people waiting for a response from Cornell. I have one friend (not on this board) who is waiting.

I'm waiting. I'm happy for those that got in but it is also stressful to see that they're calling people and my phone is silent. If my application has been rejected, I'd really rather just get the painful news over with.

I wonder how many days the calling is going to be stretched out for. According to this thread we know that it has been going on at least since last Thursday.

Oh and I'm in-state.

I am waiting also. I am in-state. This waiting is killing me as well..Everytime the phone rings, my heart stops.

RTHA, did Cornell say if they were mailing out rejection letters? If we don't get a call by the end of the week should we assume that we've been rejected?

And I wonder what their order of calling is? Is it alphabetical? My last name starts with S. How many people are they calling a day? Ok sorry, I'm obsessing over this just a wee bit.

me... how many times can i call home (from work) a day checking messages? i'm on the west coast - anyone hear from out here?

hi guys,
Tsuki, in answer to your question...I applied to Cornell last year and they put a post on your application status page with a link to a rejection letter. So it comes pretty quick online. The last couple of years they have waited over a week after all invites were out to let people know they were rejected, but they also let everyone know by the first week of Jan (of acceptance). So, i called to ask them and they said all notices good or bad would be out this week. Ugg, I can't stand this either. But...at least we know now and not in April or March like some schools. I would rather know now, but I am being terribly compulsive about my phone.
Hang in there, we will here soon. BTW, one call from the dean was to a student in the evening time, so be on the lookout at all hours!!!
Good Luck:luck:

LOL Actually, I've been wondering the same thing myself. I've been trying to assure myself that they aren't doing this alphabetically because my last name starts with A and I haven't gotten a call yet :scared:

i'm definately with you. i had my cell phone on vibrate all day in my pocket at work (even though i'm not supposed to lol). everytime it went off i freaked out. no calls from cornell though!!

Well, it would seem that the number of views of this thread (1,128 and counting) is indicative of everyone's anxiety.

i've been doing the exact same thing. i go to cornell undergrad, so i'm used to seeing 607 area code numbers, but my phone rang today and it was one i didn't recognize! i almost peed my pants but i picked it up and it was just my friend calling to tell me she got a new phone and number. i almost threw my cell at the wall.

ugh - spent 12 hours at work today, and stressed the whole time!!! at least we know we are not alone with feeling this way. Congrats to all who have gotten calls...still waiting myself:scared:

My friend heard today that she got in. Congratulations to her! (so jealous!)

shoot - i'm a PE, so i'll assume i didn't get in... 🙁

I don't think they are necessarily going in order. The may be choosing what they think are the best qualified applicants first and finalizing their list as they go down their stack...

not up on the lingo (thought pm was just an interesting beginning to a last name 😀)... however, the wait is seriously depressing me, and i haven't heard back from csu either (which just means i'm throw back into the dvm pool). starting to think more and more about plan b.

Hey guys, my day wasn't so good either, but there is still a chance we will hear tomorrow. I have decided I will throw in the towel at approximately 3:00PM on Friday😕 .
They aren't going in order from what I have gathered, but they are formulating the list and probably adding as they go. As of today, the admissions secretary told me that by the end of the week we should know. Also, alternates will be notified by mail and not called. I am not sure how many alts there usually are or how much the list moves.
When the dean calls, he usually asks if you plan of attending and probably talks some small talk--after you stop screaming of course. It most likely takes a bit of time to go through 100 or so people. :luck: :luck: :luck:
Try not to think about it. (yeah right!)

generally they'll accept 85-86 and then generate a "waiting list" of about 20...from what i've heard in past years though, very few (if any people) get in off the waitlist...since they want to enroll 80, more than 5 kids have to decline their acceptance....

Are alternates rejected first online and then sent the letter later?

hey guys
i was an alternate last year, you get an e-mail telling yoo that you are an alternate, and then you get the "big envelope" in the mail...I have no idea how many people get in off the waiting list but I didn't get in. I was out of state.

hope that helps

i was in genetics lab and missed a call from an "unavailable id" at 1pm (4pm eastern) - b/c i only get called on my cell by family/friends, should i even hope (though it probably was someone trying to sell me something)? have they been leaving messages? and does the number come up when they call?

So, I take it nobody has heard anything today? I wonder if they are done. Yikes!

tomorrow is the last day, supposedly.
Who knows, but good luck everyone anyway!!!
:luck:

I just called Cornell, and they said that we would hear within the next week...maybe today is not actually the last day!
