Cornell March Acceptances

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i'm thinking we'll all get some more info tomorrow, when more people receive some letters. don't forget to post what your status checker message says, and maybe we can correlate that with decisions.

whoa. this thread is on the third page! no excitement for cornell? well - waitlist here 🙁 fwiw, i had a your decision will be mailed update.

So far everyone who's gotten the status change has been waitlisted rather than rejected. Of course since our sample size is 2, it's probably too early to draw any conclusions.

did your status page change recently?

any ideas on when the next round of acceptances will go out?

waitlisted here as well. status was changed as mentioned above. i'm in the south, so expect mail if you're in the region.

good luck to all 🙂

congrats to all who got the wailist! I wonder, though, if this could mean rejection for those of us with no status page change....

SkiUtah,
I'm with you-- no status page update at all... we're in such a weird position now. Knowing that they're still interviewing, I feel like more acceptances may go out-- how can they still be interviewing for waitlists if it seems like most of the letters have been for the waitlist spots?? I interviewed on their first day in September... so it's been a long wait.

I don't think you guys should fret just yet. I think it means what it says, and that they are still considering you as a potential accepted student.

As for those of us with the decisions in the mail, it's too early to tell if there are any rejections going out with the waitlists. We will find out the answer today, I am sure, since everyone is finally getting the letters. I do know that the admissions staff said that both waitlist and rejection letters were both mailed.

My advice is to stay optimistic. It's the best option we have!

Hey Purple-

I feel they must have a few acceptance spots open, but Im assuming to too many....I feel if I were a strong canditate they would have just accepted me last week when they sent out that batch of emails.....has anyone been accepted that interviewed before mid-December? Strange if not....
ciao

Ok, I've tried to be strong and hopeful, but I am done. They prob do have some spots left but they are VERY few. My guess is at BEST I'm looking at waitlists, but most likely it's a rejection. 🙁

Edit: ok, after seeing this waitlists, we are def a rejection. Congrats Guys!

My status page changed last week to "Decision has been mailed..." and today I got my waitlist letter! I'm really happy considering I've been waiting for five months and this just means that I'll have to wait three more, but I'm still happy to have a shot!

Good luck to all of those waiting for a decision!

My status page also hasn't changed and i interviewed in September. They can't keep us waiting much longer though, it says we'll be notified Mid March!

My status page changed sometime this afternoon to "admission decision mailed." I was in the accepted group last Monday.

Mine still hasn't changed. Oh well, I have already put Cornell in my rejection pile.

Hi everyone. waitlist here too. And the "decision has been mailed" status page

if u dont mind me asking, when did you guys interview who are getting these waitlist letters? thanks!!

I got a waitlist letter from Cornell today in Tucson, AZ. Earlier in the week I had the "Decision letter has been mailed" update. Good luck to the rest of you!!! 😎

congratulations! i'm sure it's just a matter of time before you get in, ahoyfatty. good luck to the rest of us, too.

yeah, i figured they had just sent out waitlist spots and not rejections. after all, the "decision mailed" ppl had some impressive stats.

now my question is this: wtf are ppl like me doing in applicant limbo with no status page change, when we have below-cornell-average stats (a tree and i) or bad interview experiences (pyrois) or even no interview at all (lirrfriend)??? and *if* more acceptances are coming, then why would they waitlist ppl *before* accepting more??? unless they have some convoluted admissions process, i just don't see how more acceptances could be coming. oh wait, their admissions process is pretty convoluted . . .

if cornell is just sitting on a pile of rejection letters, they need to get those damned things out now. in the age of the internet, lots of applicants talk to each other, and it's just cruel to keep ppl in limbo like this and delay their rejections. we're seeing loads of other ppl get accepted or waitlisted, and they're still telling us to sit tight and wait for a decision. come on, cornell. reject me or prove me wrong!!!

edit: anyone know if last week was their last week of interviews, or are they interviewing throughout the month?

I'm in the same situation, but my MCAT is exactly what the average is and my gpa is way above... I also applied really early (EDP, actually...). And I think my interviews went pretty decently-- I just know I'm borderline... My status hasn't changed. At this point, I have no idea what to think.

woohoo, waitlist (can't deal with any more bad news this month). same deal as everyone else above, with the status page. interviewed on halloween.

did anyone actually find out info about the waitlist movement? any current students with some numbers, ballpark numbers?

i'm excited!

So, I talked to a friend of mine who called today and she told me that when she asked if more decisions are going to be sent soon, the person replied "yes by he end of this week." She then asked how would they be sent. The woman (I take it was a secretary) said by mail. My friend then asked what about email??? According to my friend, the secretary stubbled a bit on the phone and went back on her statement and said decisions, if acceptances, would be sent by email and other decisions would be sent by mail. I don't know what to read into this, but it doesn't sound good for the "limbo" people like myself.

Edit: A second Amen and a Hallelujah 🙂 on DD's post !

I interviewed in September.

By the way, for those who haven't received a letter yet, the waitlist one that I got was thick. I thought that was a good sign because my experience with post-interview rejection letters at BU and UVA (wtf, I know--I'm not a crazy person, I promise) was that they were razor thin. What do you say to someone you hate and don't want to come to your school, anyway?

It's probably old news by now, but I got the waitlist letter today, also preceded by the status change. My guess is that they went out before the rejections because of the April 15th deadline (but I'm not making any guesses as to whether the "limbo" people are destined for rejection or still under consideration). Good luck to everyone.

anyone know how many people are on the waitlist? and how many were accepted off the waitlist last year?

thanks!

Joining the party -- waitlist, "decision mailed" on 3/14, interviewed late Jan.

I'm thinking that waitlists are definitely better for my morale than rejections. It's like they're saying "it's us, not you," whereas the rejections are a pretty clear "it was you; you suck." My special favorites are the rejections that go so far as to hope that I will secure an acceptance at another school. Anyway. Another waitlist it is.

Good luck to those of you still in limbo!

i have an idea we should read into it something along the lines of this:

Waitlisted, found out today in LA area...niice

Waitlisted, found out today in LA area...niice

If you PM me I can tell you exactly how many ppl came off the waitlist. As to how many were on the waitlist, I can't say.

i too have been waitlisted....anyone think that Cornell waitlists a ton of people because it is seeming that way

Looks like no Cornell for us people w/out a status change🙁

Has anyone had the status change, but not received the letter yet? I still haven't gotten mine. I am in the southeast...

I haven't received mine yet either... I am in the northwest... I dunno what to make of it. I would imagine our letters will be here within the week... probably by Wednesday. Who knows what is going on.

Wow, it does seem as if they waitlisted a LOT of people.... it's almost as if more SDNers got waitlisted than accepted. I hope it's not a rediculous number if they're only going to take 25 or so off of it in the end....

Yeah i had the status change and didn't get anything today...of course the snow has messed up the entire mail system where I live so.... I'm kinda assuming it's a waitlist at this point though looking at the data we have on this thread🙂 (which I'd be happy about because it means it's not a rejection). Also wondering how many people Cornell waitlists...?

status change, WL (in TX)

Does anybody really know what "The class is selected in mid-March and all decisions are mailed then." means??

Yes, it means we will wait, wait, and wait some more. Get it over with Cornell!

also waitlisted, not sure when status page changed, received letter in michigan yesterday...i'm really good at collecting these waitlists! bleh.

Initial acceptances came out via email, with a letter to follow a few days later. Then there were more mailings, and more emails, and eventually a status page change.

I don't think you need to read into the comment, the secretary is really nice and is probably fielding a lot of phone calls. She prob has answers she is supposed to give out and when you call her and ask lots of questions she slips up, like anyone would. I don't think you can read anything into it, and should just accept a lack of status change as just that, no change in your status yet. There's no reason to assume limbo means bad things.

Good luck to everyone.

ok i just called admissions. she said they're still making decisions, and some more should be made this week. then she asked for my AMCAS ID #, and when i told her, she repeated her "yeah, they're still making decisions." what does that mean??? i'm one of the many in limbo...still no status page change and i interviewed in september! i'm really hoping they're not making me wait this long only to receive a rejection...

Thanks for the post. Try'n to keep hope alive🙂

I wonder if any rejections were sent out. The admissions office told me that both types of letters (waitlist and rejections) were sent out. hmmm. still waiting for mine.

Check your status page those of you who didn't have a change last week. Mine changed within the last few hours. :scared:
