Hi,
I've been complete at cornell for close to three months now, but my status page hasn't changed one bit. It still says my application is under review.
I just wanted to know if anyone else out there has the same thing. I know there was a decision letter sent out to some applicants a few weeks ago (along with a change in their application status). But here it's total silence! Do we still have hope, or should I forget about it to avoid disappointment? 😳

Complete and no status change since for about 2 months.

Pretty much expecting a rejection letter in the mail anytime now, heh.

nothing since july. i've forgotten about them, and they me.

complete for 3.5 months... still nothing. 🙁

complete for 4 months. my guess is if you aren't rejected by the end of this month, you'll get a spring interview. what's the point of keeping us around if not. deadlines for new applicants have passed and the school is non-rolling. just my guess.

You give me hope, or at least a final deadline which in this process is akin to hope.

Same story, complete since July, no news. Please be right.

Yeah, I wouldn't lose hope yet. I hadn't heard anything from Harvard for 3 months, and got an interview invite a couple of days ago. You've gotta be patient with some of these non-rolling schools.

Yup, I've been complete since August and not a peep. I even sent them an email several weeks ago to let them know I'd be in the area in January, and they've been ignoring me 🙁

Guys, Cornell is non-rolling in terms of acceptances. They are very slow in dolling out interviews as well. They keep most of their spots open for interviews/acceptance because they have a very early application deadline. Just sit tight.

Well, Cornell is non-rolling...kind of. Most of their acceptances are given out in March, but they definitely are giving out some acceptances next week.

I've pretty much given up. So much for getting an advantage for going to their undergrad.

Who knows what they are looking for.

You know it's next week for sure? And are the acceptances email or snail mail?

Last year my roommate got both an email and a snail mail. Her email came sometime between the 21-23 of dec, and we aren't sure when the snail mail came because she was in china at the time and her mail was held for two full weeks.

aaj, do you know if it is like BU in that Cornell makes their decisions about everyone who interviews before the 22nd or whenever? I am just wondering if I might possibly be lucky enough to ride on the early train. If not, I'm kind of cursing myself for scheduling the interview so late...

Finding out in March is going to be tough considering my fiance is trying to find a job. I realized this going in, but it would be so much nicer for him if I could get it figured out earlier than his graduation day!!! Ah well, in a perfect world...

From what I understand, Cornell assigns a given score to each applicant with some sort of formula that takes a lot of factors into account in order to determine interviews. Immediate accepts happen if both interviewers give the interviewee the strongest possible recommendation, if that doesn't happen, then it goes to the admissions committee as a whole. I heard this from an adcom member so I assume it's correct.

From what they told my roommate last year, they only send a couple of acceptances to the students that they REALLY REALLY want in december...everyone else they defer for a spring decision when they have interviewed all candidates. From what they said at my interview (11/29), we were still going to be considered for that december date, although they accept very few people then.

Well, that's a lot of pressure...

Thanks for the info, drizz! I'll have to be on my best, most relaxed, most enthusiastic behavior on Tuesday. You know there's a spot in my heart reserved for Cornell😍

that's really good to know. thanks!

Hmm, okay thanks. Good luck. If we both get in, we should definitely have a drink together at Second Look!

Hehe, good luck! By the way, for those of you wonder why Cornell seems to give interviews to those in town quickly, it's because of this score system. If you're close to the threshold they often decide to interview you anyways. In any case, it's all about the interview at Cornell, so nail it!

Guess I'm not even close then, since they replied to my "I'll be in town" email with a form letter basically stating that they'll get to me when they get to me. Ah well...

DEFINITELY!! Haha If i get in i will be the happiest girl in the world, drinks all around!! unfortunately, my interview was "good" but not great, and with me being such a borderline candidate, i highly doubt my chances. I just wasn't as on that day as i'd hoped to be. It sucks because Cornell is so far beyond my first choice...i was just disappointed with myself afterwards. The second interview was great...the first one, mediocre. I was definitely thrown off by a few questions, and babeled a little from nerves. So hopefully there will be waitlist movement before second look??

Quit scaring me! Haha yikes

I have faith in you. Some say I'm too much of an optimist, but it's helping me so far, so I'll be optimistic for you too!

Oh Cornell. Why do I love you so? Why do I feel that this is going to end up a case of unrequited love? *tear*

Hoping for some good news in December or March for all of us!!

I recently interviewed at Cornell and there's definitely been a range of responses from other applicants about their interviews. Personally, I had 1 interviewer who seemed (extremely) uptight, but interested in me at the same time. It was really odd. Others I talked to felt like they got stress interviews. I felt I did OK, but it's tough to read someone that's worked in medicine for 30+ years and is determined not to give you feedback or display any emotion whatsoever. Oh well.

Btw, when I was talking about the interviewers and their ratings of the applicants for immediate acceptance, I believe it is a holistic evaluation of the applicant, not just their interview performance.

I love you Cornell!!!!! Everything about Cornell med was amazing I am praying every day for a December acceptance.😍

I e-mailed Cornell telling them I would be in town and I got invited yess!!!

If you guys will be in NYC area, you could try e-mailing them 🙂

Does anyone know how late they interview? I don't have plans for travel to NYC until the end of March, and I'm assuming that they're done with interviews by then...

I've been waiting since July as well 🙁

for those who interviewed did you all get the thank you message from them?

My status page says that the class is selected in mid-March, so I'm assuming they stop interviewing maybe late Feb.

I e-mailed Cornell and recieved a nice prompt response, which I so appreciated!!

It said "our interview season runs into early March, and we do not have rolling admissions."

I'm still under review

😉

Now you're confusing me. I thought you said in an earlier post that "it's all about the interview."

Also, to those that got the form email response, don't give up hope. I received that right away and then many weeks later I got the actual email invite (though in my case it was after I had emailed them a second time about a later round of scheduled interviews in New York.)

BTW, loved it there. Very impressive and friendly. Too bad only about a third of those that interview get in.

I interviewed this past week...is there a chance I could hear in the December acceptances? My interviewers seemed to like me.

I have nothing constructive to add-- I just don't want this thread to disappear. People could start hearing from Cornell this week, right?

Best of luck to all.

yes. last year, december notifications were sent on the morning of the last friday before the holiday. i think similar things happened the year before. so perhaps the 21st this year?

So did those of you who emailed Cornell to let them know you'd be in town all get an email response in one form or another? Because I never got anything after I sent in my email... I'm wondering if it's worth it to send another.

I called about a week later to make sure they had gotten my email because it was when my old college email account closed and my address changed, and they checked my file and said that they did get it, and i should be hearing within a week or so. A few days later i had an email inviting me to interview.

Are you referring to acceptances or interview invitations? Because I'm still waiting for interviews.

he or she is referring to the small batch of acceptances Cornell gives out in december. good luck!

For the small batch of December acceptances sent out, do you know if it was email or usps? I'm leaving this weekend for the holiday and would love to know if I was included in that batch before leaving my mailbox for a week.

I LOVED Cornell 😍

:luck: everyone
