for those still waiting/hoping to get interviews, i called today to ask about if they had received my "i will be in the area" email, and the lady said that they hadnt even started scheduling interviews into january yet. so i think that means there are still a decent amount to give out? i hope.

I saw that you got a Columbia interview...don't know if you did this, but I sent sent an email to Cornell/Mt. Sinai/NYU saying that I'd be in the area for Columbia, and Cornell was the only school out of the three that gave me an interview. However, the email might have not made a difference b/c Mt. Sinai's admissions actually responded to my initial email (they were pretty diplomatic in their response but i still thought my best shot was with them), whereas Cornell/NYU didn't. An email definitely can't hurt though.
 
with all these people having success when emailing cornell about being in the area... it makes me want to email them and say I'll be in the area although I currently have no plans to be in NYC.... :cry: so sad

Yea, I already did that the first time. Cornell said "no." 🙁 It turned out okay because I was able to schedule my NYU interview w/ my Columbia interview.

I just emailed Cornell a second time since I will be in NYC a second time for Mount Sinai. We'll see what they say but I don't have much hope.

Well, if it's in January and Cornell hasn't sent out January invites yet, you've got a fighting chance.

PS. When's your Sinai? I have one in Jan too...
 
Holy Crap! Just got the e-mail! Accepted to Cornell!!! Interviewed 10/03!
 
Cornell! I knew they sent out a couple in December, but I thought that meant "5 people who aren't you." Amazing...

Ouch, sorry to hear about Cornell. Congratulations to those that were accepted. I recently interviewed and definitely was pleasantly surprised. It is a solid option for NYC for sure.
 
When you get a pre-interview rejection from Cornell does it show on your status page? I've been complete since late August and literally have heard nothing (I even emailed them a while back to tell them I was interviewing at Sinai). So I know that the rejection letter has got to be coming soon...

If you do not have an interview at Cornell yet, and your status page ever changes to something saying "we have sent you a decision in the mail" or something, you're rejected. Interview invites are via e-mail only. So they'd have no reason to send you anything in the mail that wasn't a rejection.

do u guys think if we interviewed before the dec acceptances and were not offered a spot we will probably be waitlisted/rejected?
 
I don't think so. From what I heard they accept only the most promising students in dec and make up their minds for the remainder of their class in March. I think we still got a shot Jon

I just checked mine...same thing as usual. (Which doesn't surprise me, because I called to check my status yesterday and she said I was still under review. Doubted it could change overnight, but still...)

Just got the boot from cornell. Checked my status page and it now says:

"An admissions decision has been mailed to you. Please contact us if you have not received it within two weeks."

It's ok Cornell, no hard feelings. 🙂

it's okay....at least i saved $500 by not going there :laugh:

It was the admissions decision has been mailed, and since I was never invited for an interview, it can only mean a rejection.
 
We have very similar stats: same MCAT and GPA, and I just got that message as well. I guess we are just too good for them. But being a Cornell undergraduate, this kinda pisses me off.

I'm sorry. I was kinda looking forward to hearing from Cornell when I wasn't in the first round of rejections, but oh well. I still have two NYC schools looking at me (since I'm too afraid to call up Einstein... I'm fairly certain I'm waitlisted there, and am just praying it's not a rejection).

Why didn't you apply to Columbia, a great school in NYC? Many people think that Columbia is the best med school in NYC.

Because Columbia doesn't accept my AP/IB credits, and the rest of them do. And I really, really don't want to take Physics again. Higher level bios I can do, but I hated Physics all 3 times I took it.
 
🙁 My status just changed too... a decision has been mailed to me.
 
My status just changed to becoming completely blank... did this happen to anyone else? Previously, it was just a complete & under review message.

Thanks for letting me know! I called up the admissions office and they said I was the only one who called up to mention it, so I guess I must be the only one with a blank status, although in their computers they said everything was just fine. I wish they'd just hurry up and tell me if they're gonna decline to interview me...
 
It seems like they're still sending out interview invitations after all. I was complete in October, and got invited just now for some mid-February dates.

My status page still says under review though.

i was complete in nov. just got the interview invite but will not be going.
 
so they are still sending out interview invites, but they have also already rejected ppl? im getting annoyed, because my status still says that my app is under evaluation. i would prefer the courtesy of a rejection at this point. are they still reviewing my app and deciding if they wanna interview me, esp when i was complete on 9/18?

same here and i agree full-heartedly. especially when i already think i dont have a chance. reject me or invite me now and be done with it dammit.

I wasn't complete until only one week before their due date (stupid), and just received an interview invite for late February! Good luck everyone!
 
Lot of people posted this status update message, does it 100% mean rejection if its pre-interview?

I just got this today:
"An admissions decision has been mailed to you. Please contact us if you have not received it within two weeks."
