No negativity! Yes they look at everything, but they don't invite you for an interview just to fill a seat. They saw something about you and at your interview you had a chance to let them meet the real you. This is my third year applying and my first two interviews so it's a struggle to think about anything else, but stay positive. You're probably on hold, not a strong candidate but not a no. Most schools have post Dec interviews, it's not over!

But you only need one acceptance to go to DS! I also didn't interview at many schools, but staying optimistic.

Also, it would be nice if we found out the day after Thanksgiving bc family is still around and you can have your support system. Plus, if Black Friday shopping is your thing, you can save it or spend (retail therapy, anyone?) your money.
 
Will schools release the news at 12 am ET or

Nope that’s why this is #3. First year I was wait listed at one school, second year got rejected, third time 1 interview and heard nothing from the others. I understand why I was rejected last year, so I’m okay with it. Just wish I would hear from the other schools. Even a rejection brings some kind of closure.

Third year applicant and I just got my first two interviews. Persistence shows, this is our year! (Think positive, it'll happen). I always have people ask about my back-up plan. My plan is to keep improving and reapply. To me, if you have a plan that doesn't involve reapplying maybe you shouldn't apply in the first place. I know I'm not the ideal candidate (Long story, non-traditional), but I know I'll be an amazing dentist.

I just quit my job because it sucked, so recently I’ve literally just been relaxing/sleeping/playing video games. Went on a hike today haha. I feel like I should be doing something more productive to pass the time but then again I know I won’t be able to do the things I’m doing now as often once I start dental school.

I’ll definitely be traveling a lot once I hear back from schools with good news 🙂 Can’t wait to hear back from schools

I finish this fall semester and will basically be off from school in the spring and summer. Don't you fear not being able to go back to school and be productive in dent school after being off for so long? This is a fear I have honestly.

I had that fear when I started my postbac program after 2 years of not doing anything academic-related. As long as you are motivated and establish good study habits, you should have nothing to worry about. Even people who go straight from undergrad into dental school struggle sometimes because you might have to adjust the way you study to suit dental school.

ive been off this whole year and honestly when the time comes to start school in august i will be ready. there is no such thing as "not being productive" once you start. this isnt a fairy tale like undergrad may have been to some of us where we pick and choose times to give it our all. this is a $400,000 investment where you have the ability to change your income potential from 145k to 450k if you are willing to work hard in the coming years and give it your all. it should not be a fear of yours when you think realistically. however, i will start studying at least a month ahead of school to get a "head start", but thats just me trying to ensure a smooth transition.

No, they still say 'invited for interview.' I have 3 that have told me no already and two of them changed to 'application denied.' The third says 'none' and the schools I haven't heard from either say, 'received/application complete or 'received/under review.'

Anyone have any book recommendations to pass the time? I recommend Americanah, currently reading through All The Light We Cannot See which is also pretty good.

AMERICANAH IS MY FAVORITE BOOK!! You need to read the rest of Chimmamanda's books. Half of a yellow sun is also really good. I got purple hibiscus but I haven't read it yet, but I did let my friend borrow it and she was crying the whole time she read it so I'm guessing it's really good as well. haha
