Countdown Until December 1st 2017

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Although it’s nerve wrecking to countdown to December 1st, it’s an honor to have had an interview pre-December, even if it was only one. I’m sure chances of being accepted aren’t high since I’ve only interviewed at one school but hopes are still very high!

If any one knows, when do most schools send out post-dec invites? Have they already started or they begin sending those after December 1st?
A lot of schools have already been sending post december interviews out. However, I'm sure there are still tons of post december spots available.

1.if you look at the stats, schools tend to accept ~55+% of the students that the interview. Now, add in the fact that it was a pre-December interview your odds only increase from there. So I would say your odds are pretty good. (however, there are other factors such as being interviewed at an in state school if you are not from that state). so, cheer up!
2. Yes, some schools began sending out invites for December.

So I will be in Air Assault School training on Dec. 1st. I will get to use my phone in the evening when everything is done for the day, but should I go ahead and let the schools know that I won't be picking up my phone, or will I get emails from the schools? I had three interviews from UAB, UPENN, and USC.

Some schools have already started- LECOM, WesternU and MWU AZ come to mind because those are the ones I've applied to lol. I'm sure there are others though.

People are already receiving some. But don’t worry they can go on all spring.

Are you going to be the 101st's dentist lol. Best of luck to you man! With regards to your actual question, I don't think that contacting them is necessary but definitely won't hurt you at the same time. If they're going to accept you, they're going to accept you whether you pick up the phone Dec. 1st or not.

Lets find a way to kill time... Where did everyone interview at?
UCSF, Penn, Michigan, Pacific, Boston, and USC... beyond thankful for such great schools, all of which I think I may be happy at no matter what. I have one more scheduled at UNLV for January but may or may not decline it depending how 11 days from now goes!!

Case Western, UDM, and SIU. My first interview was in August so it's been a loong wait!
Minnesota, BU, UCSF, UNE, San Antonio, Pittsburgh, Michigan, UIC.. USC cancelled/Maryland next week/Florida in January (might cancel..). Current number one is Michigan but only time will tell where I end up!

Good luck, people!

Reading all of these makes me wonder how many schools did everyone apply to?
I applied to three (Oregon, Oklahoma, and Roseman) and interviewed at one (Oklahoma). Didn’t hear back from the other two.

How did you find time to go to all of those?

I worked Saturdays to get Mondays off, so a big chunk of them were scheduled then. Also, I worked in a dental office and the doctor's son just went through the whole application process so they were very understanding.

Reading all of these makes me wonder how many schools did everyone apply to?

I'm gonna say the average is at least 11 schools?

Don't get disheartened. It only takes one.

Thanks for the positivity!!

Lets keep everything in perspective here. Some of us will hear Dec 1. But that doesn’t mean we are out if we didn’t . I have had some friends that have heard as late as July. I look at 12/1 as round one, and I will keep on going after that. Im even hoping for more interviews, which is highly probably as I think the schools may be waiting to see the dust settle after this and who is still interested. This is still the beginning and we have a lot more time. Remember some people will be accepted and turn down that school for another, so those slots will be open along with the others they haven’t filled yet. The schools are still interviewing , so you know there are still spaces to be filled. There are schools I have in mind that I want, but if I don’t get into those and I get into another one, I’ll have to take it, but if I hear from my dream school then I will jump on it and that will open a spot for someone. And that could be, Feb to as late as July. It’s a numbers game and it’s a long haul, so the process will be constantly changing now. Don’t let this 12/1 date freak you out, it’s just the beginning . It wasn’t easy getting to this point but we have proven that we are diligent and we knew it would be a long process. Good luck to all..

Facts, and well put. If I don't get that Dec 1 call/email though, I'm going to end up breaking my phone...because everytime I feel it vibrate and it isn't an acceptance I'm gonna be 38 hot :inpain:

Reading all of these makes me wonder how many schools did everyone apply to?
I only applied to 2 dental schools, LSU and UMMC.
I need to be near family since I am married with 2 children. LSU is difficult to get into if you don't live in Arkansas or Louisiana. Having a support system is super important for my success, I need to know my children are safe!
I interviewed with UMMC and it was a wonderful experience.
*With everyone applying to several schools makes me feel like I should've done the same...

When several of the schools you applied to have kept you under review for about 4 months now.

D-DAY = 9 Days 15 Hours 9 Minutes 3 Seconds

13 also...interviewed at MOSDOH, Roseman, Texas A&M, UT San Antonio, and OU. Good luck to everyone on here and looking forward to some good news for us all on Dec 1st!!!

Applied to 15, interview offers at 14, interviewed at 7 (UF,LECOM,NOVA,Meharry,MWUIL,Temple,MOSDOH), withdrew from 1 (Louisville) Hopefully we all get that call Dec 1!
Are schools able to see which schools you've applied to? Could that possible hurt your chance to get in? I am just curious... this is my first time applying and that was a concern of mine...

I highly doubt it. They know how hard it is to get accepted into dental school so they cannot expect students to just apply to their school and take that big of a chance.

Interviewed at NOVA and LECOM. Hoping for NOVA. Applied to 14 schools...im just thankful this TX boy is likely to land somewhere warm. I hate the cold!
