Creighton University-Distant Pathway c/o 2015

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I know this is the site for distant pathway but I just want to ask you guys one question. I have just got accepted to Creighton pharmacy program (campus pathway) and am worrying if Creighton is the right choice for me. I wonder why there are so few people discussing about Creighton on campus application process >< on this website while I saw lots of interviewers on my interview day... Is it because a majority of Creighton applicants (campus pathway) don't participate in student doctor forum or is it because the Creighton school itself has problems that make people not apply to it? I also got accepted to several other schools but Creighton is my top choice... that's why I just want to ensure Creighton pharmacy program is ok before taking this school as my final choice ^^ Thanks everyone!

I think a lot of applicants don't know about this forum. I only heard about by word of mouth from another pre-pharmacy student.

Creighton's pharmacy program is excellent, whether it's online or seated classes. If I lived near Omaha, of if I were in the position to move there, I would take the campus pathway.

One example of their record: last year all the students, both campus and distance, successfully passed the NAPLEX exam. To me, that says a lot.

I've been very impressed with everything I've learned about the program. I like that they are very professional, student-oriented and enhance your critical thinking skills. I also like that they include Ignatian values. In my opinion, if you do not truly care about people, you should not be a pharmacist.

(I still have not heard anything...)

I just got the call about 20 minutes ago. I'm in! I'll see you guys in July! Good luck to all of you that still haven't heard!!

Congratulations! I hope the rest of us won't have to wait much longer!

Thank you for your response! i feel much better now ^^ good luck with your application process!

I'm in! 😀
See you this summer!

Good luck, all!

Hey guys. I got my phone call last Friday saying I was accepted. 😀
I was asked if I had received my letter yet and I said no. He said some people got in on Thursday, so that mine should be there any day, probably Friday or Saturday. Well I still haven't received anything. I called and emailed and was told to call back if I hadn't gotten anything by the end of the week! All I know is I'm in but that's it. I was wondering if anyone has gotten their letter and if they can tell me what the deposit is and when it is due? I'm stressing because some schools only give you a week or so to get the money in and I could be a week behind! Thanks!

I still hadn't received a phone call, so I called the Admissions Office. They said I should receive a letter soon, but couldn't tell me the decision because it's confidential. I asked if a "letter" could mean either acceptance or not being accepted, and the answer was yes. The letter was mailed the 16th, I'm not sure if that meant all the letters, or just some of them.

The waiting is really hard. 😕 Maybe they did try to call me earlier on, and I missed the call. I don't think they would have left it as a voicemail/message.

Hey Rosalind, I have someone who called and was told she was accepted over the phone and should expect the letter soon. I hope you have an aceptance letter on the way.
Does anyone know if Creighton requires Physics as their pre-reqs?

I know I'm already getting worried about the final year. Is the final year tuition higher than the previous years because we will be paying for summer? Is this similar to other schools? 😕

I got my letter today. I'm an alternate. Which means more tortuous waiting, but at least it's not a no!

I had something mailed on the 16th too. My letter will probably get to me tomorrow. No offense, but I really hope that I'm not in your boat. (alternate) Good luck!

Hello all!

I'm finishing up some of my pre-req's and plan on applying to Creighton (Distance Pathway) as basically the only pharmacy school I want to attend. This is due mostly to the fact that I am unable to simply go away to school for 3-4 years depending on the school.

I'd like to say CONGRATULATIONS to all of those who have been accepted thus far, and I'm interested in what your profile is like... High PCAT scores? High GPA? Older student? Any tips on what other elective courses to take in my final year of pre-req's? I've done my research on the program and it seems to be that these are frequent characteristics of accepted students. I will be attending the University of Alaska to finish my pre-req's, and I know that Creighton has an agreement with UAA.

Any help would be appreciated 🙂

Has anyone that interviewed on the interviewed on Feb 11th for the campus pathway heard anything yet???

gobigred - I believe it is 30 days to pay $400 deposit, which you can pay online.

eebrbee - I would suggest volunteer or pharm tech experience, any helps (that was my weakness, I had none). Also take an online course or two to show that you are disciplined enough for an online format. I think that really helped me in the interview, I took several and one of them was calculus.

I called yesterday and asked if any decisions had been made. The lady said some letters were sent, but she was unsure if mine was one of them. She had a lady contact me today that knew. She told me I was accepted to the campus pathway, and that the letter was in the mail. :soexcited:

Thanks so much! I still haven't heard anything yet, but received an email yesterday asking for a background check? Did anyone have to fill this out?? It stated "you have been conditionally accepted".....any ideas?

I received my letter in the mail yesterday. I live in MN. I also received that email, so it sounds to me like you are accepted with a condition. My condition in 3 semester hours of microeconomics...damn I need to take a summer class now...

I have the same condition for my acceptance. I have a suggestion.... If you feel competent in teaching yourself a subject...such as microeconomics...fairly quickly and effectively, I would suggest taking a CLEP test to get credit. I have confirmed with Creighton that this is an acceptable form of credit for the required courses. Creighton, however, does not offer any CLEP tests to give credit for the necessary microeconomics class. You would therefore need to find another university, maybe one closer to home, that does offer the test for credit for an acceptable course. This pathway for completing the requirement is much cheaper and faster, assuming you are able to pass the test. I have ordered a microeconomics book off of ebay for $10 (including shipping) and am paying a total of $97 to take the test ($77 for CLEP, $20 for the testing center). Just wanted to at least mention that there are other options than taking an entire multi-hundred-dollar summer course. Good luck!

Interesting. I'll check with the school I'm attending now to see if they do that test. I have taken macro, which I basically learned myself due to a language barrier, so I have no doubt I could do micro.

Did anyone apply late (my app was complete on2/28)? If you did apply late, have you heard anything yet as to if you have an interview? I am kind of nervous right now. The email saying that my app was complete mentioned that it could be up to three weeks before I could hear anything. Just wondering. Also, does anyone know how many seats are still open?

I applied late- well, PharmCAS took months to send them my application, so they received it right around the March 1 deadline. I got an invitation for the April 1 interview. I would also like to know how many seats are open. Anyone?

Also, was anyone who interviewed for the distance pathway denied admission? Or was everyone accepted, conditionally accepted, or alternate listed?

It hasn't been 3 weeks yet but should I be worried that I haven't heard anything yet? If Gibberish heard from them already, then I am starting to sweat a bit. April 1st is fast approaching.

No, don't worry. 3 weeks means 3 weeks, maybe even more if they have a lot to get done. I think the admissions committee meets once a week, so you can imagine how long the application process must take.

I think you still have a chance. When I had my interview they gave me three options on a day that would work for me, granted this was in Jan. One was a week away from when I received the email invite, and the other two were about a month away.

You could give the admissions office a call and ask. They are really nice people and find answers to your questions quickly.
(I've talked with them a few times this past week)

Yes, the tuition is effectively higher for the final year because you are paying for 3 semesters instead of 2 - the rate per semester is not higher in and of itself. I think this is similar to some schools but different from others. I think there are some schools that do NOT charge 3 semesters for 4th year, some that charge a reduced rate for the summer term, and others that do it just as Creighton does. Knowing about it going in, hopefully you can sort of plan for it...but I understand fretting about it. If I have to name one complaint about the entire program, that just might be it (and that would likely be my only one).

Got the call Wednesday.. I am in!! I was an alternate last year after the interview. The admissions committee said they were impressed by my determination to improve myself from last years application.
This past year, I was more involved with the community, local charities and mentoring middle school students. I also took a pharmacology class on my own.
I am so happy to be included in this years class and look forward to meeting everyone else!

Congrats! That's great news.

So, I applied for the distance program. I called the admissions office on Friday and they said that nothing was mailed out, which she said was a good thing, but the last distance interview date is April 1. Does anyone know if they are doing an extra interview date for the distance program? I am really starting to think I am not getting in. I haven't heard anything at all, no email, no snail mail, nothing. 😕:scared:🙁 Does anyone have any info on this?

Sounds like you may be placed on the alternate list without an interview. In this case they review alternates sometime in May and you may be extended an interview at that time. However, an interview is necessary for admission.

I have called admissions a few times because I was concerned that my application was not complete and it was finished in December. The lady assured me that my application was still under review and that either way I would receive a letter... I'm just not sure what's taking them so long... I've already sort of written this school off, but would like some closure 🙁 It's like being dumped and not knowing why.

So, I called admissions again today and they said that the review committee hasn't reviewed my app yet. He also said that they may be adding an additional interview day for the distance program but it isn't a guarantee. I don't know. Is this happening to anyone else?

A letter means either alternate list without interview or denied. Interviews only come through email.

So, I'm in the same situation as you. After reading about your experience thus far, I emailed the admissions office, and they said they were in the process of scheduling another interview date later in April. She said that the date had not yet been confirmed, so I am assuming that there will indeed be one, she just didn't know exactly when.

My PharmCAS application wasn't verified until the beginning of March, so our predicaments are remarkably similar. Either way, I hope I hear something soon -- I'm not the most patient of people 😉

Post back if you hear other news...

Congrats! Did you have to interview a second time?

Not this year, they said my interview scores were good enough from last year. I am speculating that my problem last year wasnt my measurable scores, it was time spent volunteering.

I work for AT&T full-time, while knocking out pre-reqs as a full-time night student. This past year with the pre-reqs behind me, I focused on getting out in the community and trying to make a difference.

It showed, and I am ecstatic to be in this years class!

Is anyone willing to share what questions they were asked during the interview? It would really help calm my nerves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone! I'm so excited, I got an invite today for an interview on Apr 29! I was completely surprised and honestly thought my chances for an interview here were done for, since the website said the last day for interviews was today. I've been wanting to go to pharmacy school for a really long time. I've been a pharmacy tech for 7 years (in the Army) and my enlistment will be done this fall. My husband is in the process of getting into the military and this is really the only way I can go to pharmacy school without having to be separated from my husband. So I really hope my chances are good if they are still considering me this late in the game. Did anyone else get an invite for this date? I'm sooooo excited!!!!

Congrats! So when did they receive your completed app? And after how long did they send you the email? So there are more interview dates? I applied late and so am still awaiting either an invite or letter so it would be nice to know how long they take. Thanks!

They must really not want me if they are interviewing more. Oh well.

They added the April 29th interview date, but I'm pretty sure that's the last one.
