CRNAs and anesthesiologists

Do CRNAs tend to work alongside anesthesiologists, or instead of them? Is an increase in CRNAs threatening job outlooks for new anesthesiologists?

Sorry if this topic has been done to death... I am not looking to become either, but my husband is exploring his options post training when we move to the US.

The vast majority of CRNA work under Anesthesiologist supervision (as it should be whenever possible).

That is what we were hoping. I am a med student, he is a nursing student and we're moving over to the US when we are finished. We hadn't looked into CRNAs before so didn't know how they worked. It sounds interesting, but we didn't love the idea of a nurse working without an anesthesiologist (ie. same responsibility, less training, less pay). Thanks.
