There is no doubt I am going to have a pre-nup when it's time for me to get married. There are way too many gold diggers out there.
Why? Pharmacists don't even make that much money after taxes. Don't kid yourself. You just have a salary and a job that you hate. You are no Warren Buffet.
Let's be real. Most pharmacists are not going to have $1.5 mil in saving after 10 years if they are an employee.
After taxes, living cost, student loan repayment, most pharmacists would be lucky to have enough money saved for the 20% down payment on a house.
Are you serious? Pharmacist income is probably in the top 4-5% income bracket and you don't think gold diggers would go after male pharmacist! You think gold diggers would really go after a pharmacist? LOL
Yes, how much he has does matter. There is a big difference between taking 1/2 of $10 k vs. 1/2 of $10 mil.
She must be high on Vicodin to think pharmacists are wealthy. At the end of the day, you are just a biweekly paycheck. If she is a smart gold digger, she would marry someone who inherited a fortune and not to someone who has a job that he hates and he can't quit because he has no other way to earn a living.

Agree... There aren't many men making 120k+/year, so it's not easy for the average woman finding one making that much.Agreed. granted, pharmacist salary won't attract Victoria secret models, but 110K is a nice lifestyle.

The other day, my friend's son (college-educated) was talking about how he makes $25,000 a year. And it really hit home for me that my husband and I actually have a pretty good income. I mean, I knew this all along but it's another thing to hear someone else talking about how much money they make. Of course, pharmacists aren't Bill Gates but I'm pretty happy with where we're at!
Dear god, how does anyone afford a house when a six figure income only barely gets you a down payment after 10 years of working (if you are lucky!)?

Not everyone can buy a decent house for just $200 k.
After taxes (federal and state), living expenses (city, not rural) and student loan repayment (10 years), how much do you really have left over?
Clearly no pharmacist can ever buy a house. Duh.
Not everyone can buy a decent house for just $200 k.
I can buy 10 houses in rural Kentucky. One house per year.
Well I assume the assertion applies to the majority of fly over states and many areas within the SE.Great. Go for it. I don't live in rural Kentucky so we won't be neighbors.

200k won't even get you a cardboard box here. A smaller house costs at least 700k in the Bay Area. Median home price in SF just hit $1 million.
After 6 years and 2 months working, $940k. Not bad I guess for just taking salary and a job I hate. Not rich enough. Need a billion.
Is your spouse a pharmacist?
Did job/ money play into your decision on wether or not to marry him? Granted, it hopefully isn't the only reason lol
Sometimes I feel like my husband and I don't make that much... although objectively I know that we do. Hell, the amount we paid in taxes last year exceeds the average income for a family of 4 in my state. I think for us, the combination of child care for 2 kids + aggressively paying off loans makes us feel like we don't have a lot of extra money. In reality, we are in a great position. I honestly don't recall how we lived on our previous salaries (before I became a pharmacist).
No one tells you to be a pharmacist and live in bay area. If you want to live in bay area, don't be pharmacist, be a techies and work in start up, let VCs throw gobs of money at you.
Your money is in the stock market and retirement fund so you can't just cash out because of tax liability (not that you want to). Since the market is at an all time high, your net worth is misleading. Your $1 mil may become $500 k next month....that is how it works.
Besides you are the exception...your mom paid for your tuition.
In my experience. Being a pharmacist doesn't mean ****. But no, its not too hard to meet/date other pharmacy people. Girls are attracted to who you are as a person. Your personality, looks, how you take care of yourself etc. Girls don't care how much you make or if you're a pharmacist (the one's I'm attracted to anyways).
that made me laugh - I have several friends from similar backgrounds and it is so funny - one guy was definitely a "player" but then settled down with "what he was supposed to" - and damn, married less than 9 months after meeting herMeeting other pharmacists? I dunno about that, I don't go to many pharmacy networking dinners.
Easier to date? Yeah, but you have to keep your gold digger radar on at all times.
I'm from a ethnicity that still believes in arranged marriages. When I was in Rx school, only like 2-3 families inquired about me for their daughters. In the last 2 years since I graduated, that number is already over 30. I'm just rejecting all these inquiries because it means everything pre-marriage would be supervised dating and absolutely no sleeping together.
do NOT marry a pharmacist - but then again, my ex wife is a pharmacist.Don't compare us to the general population.
Check out the divorce rate among college graduates who married when they are > 25 year old.
Why? too competitive or what? Well i guess if worse comes to worse, gonna have to settle for someone from the medical field 😉do NOT marry a pharmacist - but then again, my ex wife is a pharmacist.
I am remarrying someone who makes less than half what my ex did, but ironically I have so much more money and free time now. Go figure,
what do you mean by to competitive? I just prefer to have a partner that has a completely different job because I don't want to talk shop when I get home. Why? too competitive or what? Well i guess if worse comes to worse, gonna have to settle for someone from the medical field 😉
