TL;DR: Is taking Orgo over the summer realistic and looked upon well by admissions? Does starting in the spring at a community college put me behind? Could I take the DAT in the summer of Junior year (Junior year not being complete) and still be competitive, or does my spring start already make a gap inevitable?

I started my freshman undergrad year in the spring at a community college, so I already feel behind. That spring, I only took Bio 1 (+ lab), College Algebra, and English Composition 1. I messed up by not starting on Gen Chem 1. That summer, I took general education classes, have a 3.8 cumulative GPA, 21 credits.

This fall, I'll be doing Bio 2 (+ lab), Gen Chem 1 (+ lab), and Precalc. Aside from a pre-dental society, I have been shadowing an endodontist ever since I started, work as a part-time dental assistant, and I volunteer at a cat shelter (could find a different activity). Once I start my Sophomore year in the spring (I'll be transferring to a university + more opportunities), I'll take Gen Chem 2, but ideally, pre-dents begin taking Organic Chemistry.

Could I take Organic Chemistry over the summer (intensive, mid-sophomore year), Or is my current timeline common? I'm not looking forward to a gap year, so is pushing Orgo in the summer realistic workload-wise and noticed by admissions, or have I already set myself up for a gap by starting in the spring? Could I take the DAT in the summer of Junior year (which would be mid-year, not the whole academic year) and apply, or will I still miss a lot of common pre-reqs?

So far I am interested in UMSOD, NSU, MWU, and NYUCD. Attached I have an incomplete course plan.

First, welcome to the forums.

Second, did you run this by your prehealth advisor?

Third, submitting your AADSAS application in the fall term puts you as being "too late" for many schools. Read
