I'm preparing for an interview in Des Moines coming up next week. Does anyone know of any specific advantages or disadvantages of their curriculum, and even more specifically, the systems approach. I've done a lot of reading and have asked a lot of questions, but I know there's still more to know. Any information you're willing to share about Des Moines will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much!

Hi karma

I have heard nothing but good things from current DMU students about the curriculum. Most feel that the systems approach has prepared them adequately for the boards. I am not sure of any advantages/disadvantages over other school's curriculums. I would discuss the curriculum with profs and students at your interview visit.

Enjoy your interview. It is very laid back and as you have probably already heard, a large % of those interviewed at DMU are accepted. Good Luck.

my interview with them was the most pleasant one I have had. The thing that I did not like about the school was the first year students lecture hall, and labs. They were really dreary, depressing, and old.

Hi-

I'm a 1st year at DMU. My interview was very pleasant and informal. No tricky questions, just a general "get to know you" conversation. Then again, that was last year! I'm not sure what you're referring to about the systems approach. We don't have that until 2nd year. The 1st year is all basic science grunt classes like Biochem, Anat, Histolgy, Micro, Pharm, etc... We have a very good OMM department, so you might want to ask questions or comment on it for brownie points. Hopefully you're interested in OMM! Anyway, good luck at your interview. You'll have a high chance of getting in!
