Have you emailed them?

No, but others have said they did and just got a response along the lines of “the file is still with admissions”

Did everyone on the alternate list get an email today to confirm your interest in staying on the list? Please react to this post if you got the email! The email also mentioned that alternate list quartile rankings will be sent out no later than April 14th

Anyone know when they usually start pulling from the alternate list?
I know the deadline for accepted students to narrow it down to one school is April 31 so I think if I were to guess they’ll be a lot of wait list movement around then

April 30 but you are correct otherwise.

I also heard applicants who have multiple acceptances should narrow their choices down to 3 on 4/15. That should create some waitlist movement also.

anyone heard anything back from the Feb interactives?
Not yet. Looks like folks who interviewed in Jan only got their results end of March. Even though they said 4-6 weeks for a response, it looks like it might be 8-10 weeks. We should probably expect a response between 4/15 and 4/30.

Had DMUCOM finished interviews or are they still going on? Did they extend as well or no?

Current 2nd year student. Feel free to message me with questions! Happy to ease nerves or tell you about my experience so far 🙂

Is there board time studying and are there NBME exams?
I'm currently in the middle of my board studying. I would say DMU lightens up on you a tad during your spring semester of 2nd year so that you can board study, but other than that you still have to do DMU content till May until dedicated starts. I chose to schedule my board exams (both STEP + COMLEX) in July just to have that extra cushion of time considering I want to move. I know a lot of people that scheduled in June though! and depending on what you get for rotations you'll be figuring that out over the summer after your second year anyways, so when you take boards is kinda up to you. Just have to get them done by a specific date they give you at the end of July.

As far as practice exams go we just took a FBS COMAT last week to assess our board prep. I know DMU makes us take a full length practice at the end of this semester and then any other practice exams you have to pay for yourself. DMU offers a $250 credit towards board prep material, and then the rest is up to you when you decide what works best for you and what you want to use! Other than that we will be having several review lectures in May over topics we learned first year to help us prepare.

Has anyone heard back from the 2/21 interactive? They told us to expect a decision in 4-6 weeks but I haven't heard anything back yet :/

They’re still sending out II’s, and they have a long app cycle. I wouldn’t count yourself out! I hope you get good news soon 🙏🏼
So far been grateful with getting 8 II but all have turned into WL so very much thinking I need to focus on reap

Could you tell us more about how the third year lottery works for rotations? Do you know what percentage of the class goes to a year long site and the central Iowa cohort? Do most people get their top choices? Do rotations start in July and end in July the following year?

Where do most students live during school? Any apartments that should be avoided?

What’s your opinion on the new campus? Is there a library?

Thank you for offering to answer our questions!! It’s really appreciated so we can get a better idea of the school!

We just got our rotation placements so this is fresh on the mind, haha. Basically, you rank your top 10 choices and get to write a personal statement for your #1 spot. All of the year-long sites will sort through personal statements, and fill their spots based on who wrote what for where. Since there is limited year-long sites, the year-longs are pretty guaranteed to fill by personal statements. The rest of the class gets put into the central iowa cohort, which is exactly what it sounds like. Your luck within central iowa varies a lot from what I've heard talking to current 3rd years and then my class who is working on their schedules as we speak. I've heard people say they mainly got rotations in DSM and didn't have to move, and others say they mainly got out rotations. I'm not totally sure if this is unique to DMU in the rotation world or if other DO schools work like this too. My guess is that if the school doesn't have a teaching hospital, you can expect to have a chance of moving around a lot for rotations. Your start date and end date depend on where you get assigned and the individual cohort schedules, but I have orientation and a start date in July.

I was lucky enough to receive my top choice, but I am from Iowa so that may or may not play a role, unsure. As far as stats go, 77% of the class received their top 5 choice, with 60% getting their #1 choice.

Most students live either in West Des Moines or downtown DSM. It's really a personal preference type deal and whether you like to drive ~15-20 min to campus if you're coming from downtown. I've lived in WDM the past two years and it's nice being close to campus. I wouldn't say there's anything particular to avoid, most of the complexes around here are nice!

The new campus has been a bit of an adjustment for everyone I think. It's lovely and everything's new obviously but there are some kinks they're still working out. The library situation is one that my class in particular seems like they're upset about. Long story short there is no library, but we have study spaces around campus. The answer whether people think there are enough study spaces for all the students here really depends on who you ask lol. I always study on campus and I agree it gets pretty busy at times. However I haven't really had many issues with not being able to find a spot, so take that however you want haha.

Happy to help! (and for anyone panicking about it being late in the cycle and not hearing back, DMU is kinda notorious for taking forever to respond, I know people that were interviewed and accepted in June, so don't lose hope!)

Did they ask you to confirm your acceptance or pay your deposit before a date? I'm abroad right now and can't receive texts... would hate to have missed a message from the school.

You can see the required tasks and dates they are due in the application portal under supplemental items & documents.

What should I buy in preparation for school? Will DMU provide certain things other than white coats to students?

they did ask to confirm acceptance and pay deposit before a date. You can check status in the application portal as Dr.Hobbes said.
