My school does not have pre-med advisors and I am not sure what is expected of the student when shadowing someone. Is this a regular event(once a week thing) or just once or twice? Also, how many hours does the student usually do this for? Thanks for any help recieved!!! [IMG]

    Hi Dray,
I'm assuming you're asking about shadowing a doctor that you've personally arranged something with...If so, it all depends on how much the doctor is willing to have you around. I would say that once a week for four-six hours would be convenient for both you and the doctor. As far as what is expected of you, nothing really, other than to pay attention and you getting a chance to ask some questions about the life of a doctor, their opinions on health care, etc. Just make sure that the doctor is comfortable and okay with the schedule you guys set.

    Hope this helps.
