DMU alternates

I just got placed on the alternate list at DMU and was wondering if many people are accepted from this list. They say that they don't rank the list until June so does that mean that we'll have to wait until July or Aug to find anything out.

I just got placed on the alternate list at DMU and was wondering if many people are accepted from this list. They say that they don't rank the list until June so does that mean that we'll have to wait until July or Aug to find anything out.

I contacted DMU after being placed on alternate list and they told me that all of our profiles will be reopened end of May and we will be ranked according to the statistics of the alternate pool. They will look at GPA/MCAT, interview results, and personal information to rank us into four quarters. After that we hope that there is less than 200 deposits and that other previous wait listed students are chosing other medical schools as there top choice. However, I do feel most people really like DMU.
DMU said they will wait list 50-60.
They start accepting us beginning of June.
Also I have know people to get in two weeks before school starts.

I noticed that you posted that you found out about being waitlisted on the same day that I interviewed there. Does this mean that anyone interviewing on or after 4/13 has no chance of being accepted...at the very best being waitlisted? I have to say that I am bummed, cuz I really liked DMU.

Not at all. It could just mean that he/she fits into the realm of the rest of the waitlist pool as far as GPA, MCAT, personality, experience. Don't be bummed. DMU is a great place, and I enjoy it. You will get in here if you are supposed to!

Can those of you that are waitlisted or placed on the alternate list post your gpa/mcat. I am interested in going there. I just want to see where I stand. If you're uncomfortable about making it public, you can PM me. Thanks in advance to those that respond.

Don't fear that all is lost by being on the wait list. There have been years that DMU has gone through the entire wait list, other schools do too. If you are on the waitlist and atlest in the top thirty I would be surprised to see you not get in to be completly honest. A girl in my class was also accepted two days before orientation, so that can happen too. Good luck.
