I got an interview invite today! yay!!

I was sent the "file is complete" email on Sept. 1 to give those of you still waiting an idea!

Me too. Same exact day complete as well. I am interviewing on November 12. So hard to schedule these interviews with my work schedule though.

Same as both of the above. I chose the 12th as well. Congratulations to you two, and to everyone else that got an invitation today!!!

I got an email on Monday saying that my file is complete and that they will get back to me within 30 days. Can anyone tell me how long was it for everyone else between that email and the interview offer?

My file was complete on September 10, and I received an invite for interview yesterday, October 5. Best of luck to you!

My file was completed on the 6th of September, no news yet, So I'm gonna assume I'll be getting the rejection letter in the mail since they sent out the interview invites yesterday. 🙁 and I was really looking forward to this one!

Interview on 10/18! Anyone else?? I'm driving from Colorado! (10 and a half hours! ugh...) I'm excited! I have a friend at the school and he loves it! He says that he loves how small the classes are (compared to U of Colorado). He says it is very apparent that the teachers are there to teach and that they really enjoy it!

Nice! I'm glad to hear that!

don't assume that, keep it positive! It's about that time when they are flooded with apps. Maybe yours wasn't the best in the pile so you didn't get an immediate interview, no big deal. They interview through the spring, so there is plenty of time. If you have a decent app they'll hold onto it for a while. look a few posts up: turtle girl was complete the 1st of september and she got her invite yesterday. hang in there wolverine!

Thank you for the encouraging words, I think I really needed it! I will keep my hopes up till either i get that interview invite or that rejection letter! good luck to those with interviews coming up! rock'em

I think you meant SEP 10th, cuz if its Oct 10 I think I would wait a little longer before calling them since its not for another two days. Yeah I tried calling and they said you will find out this week, but I still have not, so we'll see.

For those already accepted, have you heard anything about financial aid? I know other schools send out financial aid packets and let you know if you will receive any scholarships/assistance. Does DMU do this as well? I'm thinking of emailing admissions and asking...

I am attending another interview for my state school, and if I go there I would be 100,000 less in debt after four years so hearing back from DMU soon would be nice.

Biochem...I'm going through that exact situation as well. I called and they said that they meet once a month and send them out, starting this month. so we should have them before mid-november, but looking at last years thread it looks like they sent them out in december

Got my acceptance yesterday afternoon as well. I was also a 9/24 interviewee! Pretty impressive how fast they made these decisions and got back to us. Best of luck to those of you with interviews coming up soon. DMU definitely does a good job of making you feel comfortable in the interview. So relax and kick some butt 😀

zeta and doctorpurple,
sorry it took me ages to respond but you guys asked about my western interview. i interviewed in pomona and i was impressed with some aspects of the school and the people seemed pretty nice, i just didn't really feel that i would fit in there. also, my interviewers grilled me on osteopathic philosophy and d.o. vs. m.d. because i applied to both - literally over half of my interview. they also were not inclined to discuss many of my activities and seemed unimpressed with anything i said. and they are on a tight schedule so once you hit 30 min, it's over. very strange compared to other interviews i have had where it has been a relatively pleasant experience. i'm sure other people had fine interviews and felt good about the school - this was just my experience. overall i definitely felt more at home at dmu.

For those of you that have been accepted: How long does DMU give you before you have to put down a deposit? I would really appreciate the help. Thanks guys!

$500 due by Dec 14 and the other $500 due sometime in May. That probably changes if you are accepted later though. They follow AACOMAS guidelines.

I've received an e-mail stating that I've been placed on the alternate list.
I'm just confused because I thought the interview went really well. This school was one of my top choices too.
🙁

I'm sorry to hear that. When did you interview? What is your GPA?

so do alternate lists come by email or snail mail? what about acceptances?

I got my initial acceptance by email, but today I just got a real letter by snail mail along with a DMU decal to put on my vehicle. 🙂

My alt list notification was by email about 1 week after the interview and I haven't seen anything via snail mail. This was over a month ago, so I don't think alt list stuff comes via snail mail.

That is a really nice touch from the school!

It is. I got mine today. I like this school more every day

Just got my acceptance! I interviewed Sept. 30th. Way exciting!

Our class is growing in size by the day! Congratulations to all those who are accepted and good luck to those who are still uncertain. Have faith and believe and great things happen.

My wife and I are looking at houses to rent in the area. It is so much more affordable than San Diego!! We can get a huge three bedroom house with all the fixins for the price we pay for a tiny 2 bedroom apt here. This is sweet!

What about tornadoes in the midwest? We have earthquakes out here, but they are more fun than scary.

Tornados and flooding are fairly rare. The most common events are lighting/thunder storms. There is occasional hail in the summer.

By far the most eventful time is winter where you can have freezing rain that coats everything in a thick layer of ice (trees, power lines, cars, etc.), white-outs (wind + snow = u have zero visibility), and blizzards (tons of snow).

Last year we had the first snow day in the college's history due to 18 inches of snow in less than 6 hours.

Does that mean you've chosen DMU? You posted on the Western thread, so I figured you weren't decided yet though this posts sounds like you've made up your mind, lol. I still haven't - it's a hard one between DMU, CCOM and KCUMB (if I get accepted here) for me. If they had a little more diversity and an systems based curriculum I would go in a heartbeat.

As for the rent in the "midwest" it still depends where. Prices in the the nice parts of Chicago as well as the more prestigious suburbs are still going to be scary. Not that DMU is in Chicago lol.

That is A LOT of snow. I grew up in Virginia and still remember the blizzard of 1996 when we got 36" of snow. It is fun for a while. I know my kids will love it. Plus its super fun to drive in... like an ice skating rink.

Not sure yet. We really like Des Moines, but we both also really like UVM. If I get accepted to UVM were going to have a tough decision to make. I loved the curriculum at Vermont, but it is a lot more expensive to live there. I also like Western. Went to the recruiting event and schmoozed it up trying to get an interview. Just going to go with my gut when it comes time to make a decision. Whatever it is, thank goodness we have these types of quality problems. 🙂

Just got my interview invite today! yay!
Flights are ridiiiiculously expensive out of PDX, ouch.
I will probably call later today, but anyone have an idea about what dates they are currently scheduling? Thanks!

Didn't they give you an option to sign up for your date online?

Yes you are right, I just saw that. They have dates open for end of October, early and mid November, and some in early December too: Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

I got the complete email on September 16th.

Hey all,

I am hoping that someone might be able to trade me interview dates. I am currently scheduled for 11/4, but I will be near Des Moines on the 22nd of October.

I live in the Seattle area, so eliminating a second trip would be a relief on my checkbook. Anyone willing to make that switch, please PM me. Thanks!

Got my Interview Invite today!!!!!!!! Scheduled for December 6th... I was a little confused with the appointment scheduling... I thought that October/November (Monday, Thursday, Fridays) were open but you couldn't click on the schedule tab... Thus the earliest date that allowed me to schedule was December 6th... Whose with me?!?! This is my #1 school!!!!:xf:

yeah I see what you mean, lame! Well, I guess I will be going in December as well. I'm interviewing at NSU the week of the 9th, so... looks like I'll have to make a separate trip the week after.

I just completed the secondary earlier today (not the hardest thing to do, I know) but at least I finally got one in! and recieved an interview invite back about an hour later!!!!

Anybody think there's a chance that an earlier interview date will open up. Like one before December?
