Absolutely ridiculous. I know its just a laptop and the school is great, but if they're going to give us a laptop it might as well be a current one. I mean for students starting in 2003 this laptop would be low tier. I just hope I can opt out and get myself an intel macbook 😎 instead. Next we'll find out the PDA they give us is a Palm M100 😛

For 2003, that's not bad at all. My powerbook G4 has a 40GB and I haven't even come close to using all of it. The only time I ever came close to using all of my HD space on a computer was back in college when I downloaded music. The combo drive was standard 3 years ago too, as was 256MB SDRAM.
For Fall 2006 the DMU kids got the Gateway convertible tablet PCs w/:
1.66GHz
512MB SDRAM
60GB 5400rpm HD
7-in-1 media card
8x DVD, 24x CD
USB 2.0, FireWire, VGA
Wireless
etc...

not bad at all. I'd be happy with it for class, but I'm still going to use my powerbook as my primary computer outside of school.

This year they also got Dell x51 handhelds:
Windows Mobile
520MHz Intel XScaleTM PXA270 processor
3.5" TFT display
integrated 802.11b and Bluetooth
64MB SDRAM and 128MB flash ROM

again, not bad.

Wow, nice. They should really update their site then.

Btw, props to using a PB instead of your PC laptop outside of school. OS X is simply the BEST OS in existance. I wish med schools would just use it, way more stable and secure.

I wish they would update their website too. During the interview, all of the students hanging out had their tablets out. They really are pretty nice for note taking.
I love my 12" Powerbook 😍
If you want an Apple-lovin school, try UNECOM. No computer spec requirments, $2000 computer budget, ~40% of students use Apples, and they have Apple workstations all throughout the school.

I love my laptop. Using it as we speak. Yes, they do need to update the website. These babies are brand new!! 👍
