I hate you so much  SPAL today and then three tests to go. Good luck to all of the third years that are getting ready to start their fourth year.

Think of it this way: After next week, you will have the joy of watching someone else suffer through the first year. On the other hand, the 2nd year is no cake walk (especially the beginning).

Your not a 4th year yet in my book until you have officially been handed your first pimp question at one of your rotations. Saddle up partner.

You're not a 3rd year in my book until you pass boards!

Hey, you guys have the same SPAL as the DO's do? That word brings me back to my interview days with DMU-COM when we would watch some taped program on SPAL. Did they show you the same program in the DPM interview?
Each time I interviewed there they showed the very same news program, and Dr. Mueller would say the same thing about their programs. Did you guys take his PBL Biochem? Did you get to use Harvey the cardiac simulator?

The SPALS for the DOs and DPMs are the same. My group had both DOs and DPMs in it. Harvey is used by both also in 1st and 2nd years. Many DPMs and DOs took Mueller's biochem pbl but I was not one of them, thank goodness.

I just wanted my 500th post to be a happy post to all of my happy friends at CPMS. Dr Feelgood feels good.

For the love Feelgood. You are a posting machine. Why did I get the "most posts on SDN" award?

I think Feelslappy and Jon both need to find a few more hobbies.

As of this weekend, I won't be posting that much. I will be sufficiently busy.

Whatever! Have fun at the U of F. I hope you get pimped to death. By the way Gustydoc, your 10+ posts is a little embarassing. Lets bring it up a notch shall we?

I suppose I could post a bit more, but my fellow DMU collegues have so many pearls of wisdom for the SDN audience I'm left with little to say. Besides, the fear of being the one guy who doesn't pass boards at this school has me motivated to study. By the way good luck everyone headed out for externships. Oh and congrats Rob!

good luck at U of F. don't be too smart while you're there. I have to go after you and I don't want to look like the dumb ass from NYCPM

Greetings from Tennessee (my pit-stop for the night).

Ya, Bella told me. She has her work cut out for her while I'm gone. It's a good thing my kids are perfect little angels

Geez, they are not going to call you Uncle Rob b/c you are a taddle tale. There will be only one uncle Robert b/c I'll give them candy and caffeine.

Isn't this exciting? Tomorrow starts summer clinic for me. Gusty knows my pain though. I've had 2 weeks off and my wife has worked me to death. I'm kind of glad to be back at school b/c I need some time off to study for boards.

Good luck tomorrow, if nothing else it should be a nice break from the nesting wife right? Study now cause once the little one arrives it is really hard to pry yourself away and get to the library.

is it a pre-req for DMUers to have a kid or one on the way to be accepted?

it seems like you all have kids.

I think feelgood and I may be two of the only non-mormons to have joined the dad club since starting here.

Naw, I know of a few more. Everyone that was single when we all started 2 years ago are now married except for a select few. It must be in the corn.

I will also be starting clinic tomorrow. I plan on altering Feelgood's treatments to make him look bad and me look better. Everyone should be at the clinical orientation though right?

So does that mean I might actually find someone there haha. It seems like most people coming in are already married and if they aren't they're bringing their significant other with them.

Seems to me for at least the pod program maybe I shoulda did barry or something, I know there would be some girls around there....wait I should study instead

There are 300 DO students. Think about it, two pods would be great. But your wife could get your tons of referrals or maybe if she was a orthopod you could start a really kick butt practice.

Jon,

did you start yet? how is it?

It is a lot of work but a very good experience. It is a HUGE hospital which serves as the level one trauma center for southern Georgia and northern Florida so you see some crazy things. The attendings and residents are cool. Between rounds, clinic, and surgery, I've been pulling around 12 hour days.

Pulling 12 hour days?? Man, that sounds like me in the clinic. I dont know when we will have time to study for boards. My first patient had a busted calcaneus that was displaced plantarly just about to brake through a plantar ulcer. But he didnt care, he still walks on it. He had a mid met amputation. I tried to check his pulse on the other foot but it was difficult to feel anything through the wood. The doppler didnt help either.

Good luck at UF.
