Where are you doing your core?

Are you doing anything on the east coast?

I am doing my core at detroit medical center and unfortunately that is the farthest east I am headed. I would have stopped by innova, but between you and Keplinger I would have been pimped to death! 😀

Don't worry Krab, I'll take care of it 😀

true, very very true. But never in front of an attending unless I know for sure that you'd know the answer. I'm not trying to make people look bad - on purpose anyway.

Its been a few days since Ive been on here. Glad to see that Gusty is doing well and that JonWill is still alive. Im sitting here in my ocean view room at the Turtle Beach Resort right on the beach in Oahu, Hawaii. I guess they filmed the finale episode of the Bachelor here, the resort people cant stop talking about it. Anyway, although its beautiful here and there are few vacations that can top this, I think I would rather be in the OR or clinic right now. Cant wait to get out there.

Good luck with everything Gusty. You too JonWill. I guess Ill have to go to the beach again tomorrow, or maybe play 18 on the championship 18 golf course, both of them.

You've got a tough life bro. But don't worry, your 4th year awaits you!

What? Are you doing your vacation right now? Seattle is cold and rainy. Besides that they have a block on all of the fun websites at the hospital. So I've been studying a lot and I am now a bigger nerd than before.

You might ask how are you posting now, I'm at a dirty laundromat right by U of Washington with a bunch of 18-20 year olds walking around outside looking for some "action."

one rotation down and i'm still alive.

We have a week to go before classes start up again. I was wondering what anyone has to say about 2nd year courses. Pharm seems kind of intimidating to me. Maybe it's just that I don't want to kill anyone. :scared: I'm excited about systems (except I heard neuro was a b**** last year).

Has anyone seen the new antomy labs? I would like to hear from some of the nerds around campus to hear if it is as kick butt as they said it would be.

Nerds? I dont know about that, but there are new flats screens in the anatomy labs but they dont look like they are functional yet. I'll try to keep you udated! If there are any other questions about campus you can post them here and I will see if I can answer them.

Do you still need to avoid the gang of rouge assassin ninjas that hide in the trees and are searching for a 6 toed man that killed their sensei?

We had about 6 DPMs in the 3rd row for Biochemistry this morning.😀

The new anatomy labs are pretty sweet with the flatscreen TVs. What is more impressive though is the new simulation lab!

Nope haven't heard Dr. M yet, but we did hear a little more about Vision 2015. Hopefully a lot of the goals can be accomplished with in the next five years!

Any of you current residents going to be at the CPMS Residency Fair on August 24th? Sounds like it should be fun show! 👍

I heard Mandracchia isn't talking to the first years in intro this year. What's that about? He was awesome last year.

I hadn't heard that. It's really too bad. He did do a great job presenting to our class last year. I loved his enthusiasm.

As of now he isn't scheduled to give any presentations/lectures...it would be nice to hear him though since he seems to be a great advocate of the profession!

Yeah, he isn't going to lecture in pod med this year. It looks like Dr. Mahoney will be giving the lecture Dr. M normally gives tomorrow. It is really too bad because he seems to really motivate students.

Pretty soon the 3rd row will become known to all as the super geniuses as it does in every class.

Glad to see this thread picking up again. Over 26,000 views and still counting. 👍

Mandracchia has too much to do at Broadlawns. Besides being the CMO, he still practices medicine. So I'm sorry to say, you come behind his family and probably householod chores (they live on a large farm)

That was my guess. I am sure he is pretty busy. Is he still involved with teaching the students third year?

When you have two egos as big as Dr Y and Dr M, they seem to get in the way of what is best for the students. Its really sad. Mandracchia really does love to teach and last time I spoke to him he said if it where up to him he would have students out there constantly. You guys should speak up if you want to be out there (trust me you do) and let the tower know they need to figure it out.

Hmmm kinda sounds like a touchy subject, I didn't know there was a problem going on there. On a side note it is kinda disappointing only 27 residencies are coming. I am also starting to dislike Biochem, I have a feeling it will only get worse.

I'm kinda feeling the BEST is yet to come...as far as biochem goes 😀

27 isn't bad. A lot of residencies will come on their own accord later. My program will be their and my boy is going to be bring his numbers (2nd year) and my numbers to show what you do as a 1st year. I promise you that you won't see a lot of programs showing 1st year numbers.

What??? Biochem rocks!!! OK, maybe not. You guys are in for quite a ride!

Tryin to get the 3rd row today was like trying to get to the stage in a moshpit! The DOs are still crazy about getting up front...guess we'll have to start getting here earlier to reserve spots

today we are the super geniuses of the 3rd and 4th row...the DOs kind of took over the 3rd row this morning, oh well!

I didn't sit in the third row until my second year b/c a lot of the DOs "have" to sit up front.

First test in biochem coming up next wednesday! Lectures on biomembranes and second messengers/signal transduction coming up next...Yee Haw! It'll be nice to get the first exam under the belt and figure out what really needs to be done.

The first biochem exam is really funny. You've got people throwing up in the bathroom before the test they're so nervous. By halfway through the semester, tests are no big deal. It's just another day!

Yeah. Just another day at the office really.

I remember walking out of the first biochem test and realizing that I was going to have to play a lot less golf and do a lot more studying.

Any of you remember how helpful the practice assesments were? I took the posted one yesterday and did really well having not done a whole lot of studying...I don't like taking stuff like that for granted though. I have definitly learned my lessons in the past for depending too much on the practices. Hope everyone had a great weekend!😎
