CA2 applying for Cardiothoracic this year. Wondering if being a DO is going to hinder my chances anywhere.

I know this is definitely still the case at a few places when it comes to matching for residency. Just curious if it still bears out when it comes to matching for fellowships.
 
Not at all, there are multiple DO program directors. Same advice for a successful MR applicant applies.
 
Jumping on to this question, does anyone know how important it is to have extracurriculars? I honestly have not done much of anything in residency other than work/non-academic stuff.

I would say not important unless the extra-curricular is CV anesthesia related.

Yes, but does not hinder you as much as it did when you applied to residency as a DO. The playing field is a lot more level, but not completely level. Current CT fellow and DO. PM me if you have questions.
