NEWS BULLETIN
CANADIAN STUDENTS
Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) has announced its intent to recruit 20-25 qualified Canadian students each year over the next 2-3 years to help promote osteopathic medicine in Canada. Graduates of MSUCOM as well as other American Osteopathic Association accredited osteopathic medical schools are entitled to full practice in Canada. They are allowed entrance to the Medical Council of Canada, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the College of Family Physicians of Canada examinations. These graduates can complete post graduate training in Canada or the United States. They are eligible to practise through the various Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons across Canada and are given the same practice rights as their allopathic (M.D.) colleagues. MSUCOM has taken the initiative to recruit qualified Canadian applicants and will be setting a special tuition rate for these students, the amount to soon be determined. Interested applicants are encouraged to review the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medical Schools web site where one can link to each of the osteopathic medical schools.
It is not too late to apply this year. The Canadian Osteopathic Association encourages applicants for future years to review all the prerequisite requirements. Osteopathic medical schools admit on a rolling basis and as such it is beneficial to have your application ready to go, including MCAT results, when the application cycle begins typically in May for the following year.

I think MSU's OOS tuition is $70k and I didn't bother applying there. Maybe, someone should email them and ask what will be the approximate tuition...
Perhaps, initiative like one will result in more recognition of DOs in Canada and is good news for people like us who are going to a DO school next year.
