I was done Dec 7th at western(Supp App Received on Nov30th and letters and fee on Dec 7th)...how about you...I remember we were done around at the same time right?

My secondary was submitted on Nov 29th and complete on Dec 1(Fee). There is two inteview dates this month and I think there will probably be 2 next month too.

Ask away, but im not sure how much help i can be, the school set everything up basically for me lol
Scotia gives 200k for medical school in US & Canada. Not sure about cosigner thing.

Im doing school in the states right now and the school basically set up my Visa for me, I think I sent them all my supporting documents around June so we have plenty of time.
But if you know where you are going for sure, or when you know, I guess it wouldn't hurt to contact the school and get it set up....may as well.

what school do you go to? unfortunately I'm not sure of any schools yet but it would be awesome if they do that for us.
I think they HAVE to do it or at least help us quite a bit, because on the SEVIS form it lists the sponsoring school and they obviously need to sign off on it. Columbia was pretty good, very organized and they did it pretty fast. When I applied to WVSOM or one of the DO schools that don't take Canadians, they said that since they are a small school, they don't have the resources to handle I-20's (what we need) for international students. They need us to have a green card and therefore do not even accept people without one...so long story short, the schools who do accept us will help us get the visa stuff, otherwise they would have rejected us for being international.

so now I have 3 interviews AZCOM,TOURO-NY,KCUMB...not bad considering my late application...
nothing from western yet !!!

Hey Razz and everyone else. First off, thanks for helping me out!
It sounds like AZCOM does most of the stuff for us to. My questions are far more general, and I figure I'll ask here before I sit on hold for 300 days with service Canada.
My passport expires in ~3 years or something, so obviously I'm not close to up for renewal. But I need a new passport for the F1 stamp that expires after graduation in 2015. Will this be a hassle at the passport office or are they used to it (getting a new passport when the old one is still valid that is - usually you can't unless yours expires within 12 months)?
Next up was the general timeline. Which was answered from the looks of things (just a "Does this process take 6 months? Should I be in panic mode?")
So after youre in the states, how about coming and going? As in, you come back to Canada over Christmas or for the summer. Anything special you need to do when you leave the US or come back in?
Lastly, and no idea if you can answer this, but the F1 form I saw said that when we enter the US we get our VISA signed and it then activates and is valid. But, I'm going to phoenix in Feb and Vegas in May. Will it be an issue if there is an F1 in there already? Obviously I wouldn't want it to start in May when I go down to Vegas. (As an extension, I plan on moving in the month of July, so I'll be in and out lots I would think. Can I get my VISA activated on the very last time I enter to stay, even if this is on say July 15 and school starts Aug 2?)

What made you to chose AZCOM over NSU? I was interviewing there today. The campus is amazing! Also are you being asked to deposit $250,000 in a US bank?

As for why I picked AZCOM over NSU, personanally both schools seemed amazing. I wasnt too keen on taking medical spanish at NSU although the tour guide made it sound like the class was fun if you mucked around in it lol. In the end it came down to choice of city, I wasn't a huge fan of Ft. Lauderdale and have always been in love with AZ, even though interviewing was my first time ever going down there. Something years ago made me say "I want to live in AZ".

Medical Spanish is an elective now at NSU. It is elective at AZCOM too. AZ gets too Hot though as far as what I have heard (Won't it too hard for you since you are from AB?). AZ has good match rates, but I find it unbelievable that they asked you to deposit such a large sum of money? How are you arranging it?

is it even possible to get that much money from one bank? or it has to be more than one bank? why 330K? is it because 4 years of med school and living expenses in AZ are gonna cost that much?
If you deposit 330K now, aren't you gonna have interest accumulation from day one? jeeez
Hey thumbz is it 230k or 330k? Waiting for your reply! I interviewed here with hopes of having divided fee... already got a shocker when they said they want the money to be in a US bank before we start school.... 330 k is just way too much me thinks

It's 330k. And ya you would need to go to more than one bank unless you have a huge collateral you can put up to get such a substantial loan (like a nice house or something along those lines).

haha ya I am done for the cycle🙂 even if i get more interview invites, I wont be attending them. Im kinda sad in a way that I wont be attending Touro-NY. I really liked NY City and its nice that the school actually cares about the community and makes it their main goal to help the under served community. Western is a much better school though for rotations and education. Also, the faculty and staff at Western beat Touro by a landslide. At my interview and through communications so far, Touro staff didnt seem very caring where as Western staff are friendly and go out of their way to help you🙂

but Cali will do I really hope some of you guys who interview at Western are my classmates next year😀 we need more Canadians down in Cali

Medapp and mauve interviewed there today. I am on 27th! Hopefully some of us get there....
AZCOM broke my heart! this is ridiculous. I told some of other interviewees today how DMU requires $250,000 and they were left open-mouthed at that.... I don't know how 330,000$$ will feel like..... getting accepted at NSU and Western has become that much more important for me now.. Even though I will have loved to study in the Rattle Snake State.. DAmn! On a side note: I should stop dreaming about CCOM.... 🙁

Well, word on the street is this 330k is a snapshot, so you don't need to start accruing interest. In my case, as soon as I get the bank statement and the school OK's it all the money is going back where it came from so that it stops being charged interest or it starts remaking the interest from the accounts it was originally in. So it's not as bad as DMU because you only need to find a way to get your hands on it, you dont actually have to pay it out.
Also, I love heat. I know, people are all "pffft stupid eskimo aint neva been in real heat" but every year I make a special trip to vegas in July so I can bask in the 42* heat by the pool. To me, that right there is heaven. Just butter me up and let me cook =)

if that's the case, and if AZCOM won't keep checking on your bank account, that's fine then!!

I heard about it post acceptance from another applicant who heard from the office of admissions. I do believe it's not on their website, but if you ask theyll tell you

Wow, that's just a horrible policy for both you and them then. Obviously you can borrow the money for a day or something and then not have a dime to your name. It proves nothing regarding your financial stability and creates a silly cost for you to bear.

I always find it funny when they say the temperature could go up to 110-120... Fahrenheit V Celsius: O I am going to miss (Canadian) Celsius if I don't get into Canadian school..... At that temperature you will do well not to put butter on your hands, only 1 thing will be getting cooked then...joking 😀
Thanks! Saving some money I guess. I just glad the decision came out today as I now I will getting 30 days. Hopefully Western sends decision before NSU money is due.... I am surely going to Western if I get in there... I must add I haven't yet opened the attachments on NSU email.... if there is anything ridiculous on their financial agreement, then may be I will go to KCUMB.
