DO Letter of Rec but applying MD and DO

I was wondering if it is acceptable to use a DO letter of rec when applying to MD and DO schools? I'm asking because I personally think it would be weird receiving a DO letter on an MD admissions committee for an MD school.

It's not "weird" but only maybe 4 MD schools ask for a physician LOR. Did your committee want one anyway? Or is this an employer's letter vs a shadowing LOR?
