Good reply drusso. And just to add to your comments, it would be extremely difficult to make an argument that the general patient population is suffering due to a misunderstanding of what DO's do. A large proportion of DO's practice primary care medicine and large proportion practice in underserved communities. These are two very needed physician aspects to the patient population. Indeed the DO title is not hurting the general patient population despite most patients having no idea what a DO is.
