Hi friends,
I am fortunate to get military HPSP scholarships in this cycle. I am going to mention the scholarship in my LOI, then send the letter to a public school (top choice) for which I am on the waitlist. But I asked some people, they advised me NOT to mention the HPSP scholarship in my letter because public schools don't like HPSP applicants.
The reason is that public schools get money from state budgets (that's why the tuition is cheaper than private schools), so they expect their dental students to contribute to communities in their states. If you are an HPSP student and serve in the military after graduation, the states don't get anything from you.
Actually I would like to mention HPSP to improve my application and hope to get off the waitlist of my public school.
Do you have any idea about that? Please help me!
Thank you so much!!!
