Hello,
I am curious are there any DOs that match Army ENT? I noticed that last years averages did not include any COMLEX scores. Any information would be helpful.

You didn't see COMLEX scores because army ENT programs don't accept them. Take the USMLE if you are serious about ENT. There has not been a DO accepted for training in 12 years. Chances are low but good luck if you decide to try.

Its actually because there was only one student that matched Army ENT,the ** in the comlex scores shown states "data restricted to maintain students privacy" (see army GME slideshow 2013 attached)

That being said, from what I understand of the specialty Step 1 USMLE scores are an important factor civilian wise. I spoke to one of the program coordinators in a round about way he said they 600-649 for COMLEX, but they look if the person took step 1 and preferred above 230's. If they did <230 on USMLE but within the 600-649 they took it, but I got the impression they preferred USMLE.

I guarantee you that they (residency directors) prefer the USMLE. If you are a DO and want to do ENT in the army, you are shooting yourself in the foot if you do not take the USMLE. You also better bust it on part 1 to make up for the stigma of a "DO" degree. Nothing against DOs (I personally know 2 that are ENTs and they are very good), it's just the way it is.

The bolded parts are true for any surgical subspecialty or competitive residency. Don't buy into the notion that COMLEX is all you need. The only way to truly compare applicants is with USMLE scores. Remember that it's easier to compare apples to apples, rather than apples to the mentally challenged cousin of an orange.

 Thats a little harsh but I got a good laugh out of it.

Thanks for the help! Got my USMLE score back today 247. No idea what my comlex will be. I hope the USMLE score will make me competitive regardless of my comlex.
