I was in boyscouts and got to the rank of Eagle scout. I was talking to my friend and he said I shouldn't mention it because it was in high school. (My senior year was when I got the award)

So it's something I should avoid putting on my application? Thanks in advance for information!

I'd put it on your C.V. and I'd definitely mention it on your personal statement and any place on the application where it is pertinent. The key is to incorporate it into your statement/application to show how being an Eagle Scout helped mold you into who you are today, and why the experiences you had as an E.S. will grant you unique traits to bring to the table.

This will be a highly subjective decision, though. I'm sure there are Eagle Scouts out there who didn't mention it on their application. It's not a deal breaker either way, honestly, but hey, it's a pretty big accomplishment and I think you deserve the recognition especially if it helped you choose a certain line of work (hint hint) in any way.

Eagle Scout is a pretty big accomplishment to list, because it's normally not something that can be done easily or done alone. Typically, you will have been part of a troop, working with others in many different teamwork-based situations. Also, your projects for Star, Life, and Eagle (they each require projects, right?) are contributions to the community.

I personally think an AdCom would look at Eagle Scout as the mark of someone who can work well as part of a team, lead when necessary, and complete what they started: all good traits in a pharmacy student and pharmacist.

Just my two cents, though.

This.

There are three Eagle Scouts on the Admissions Committee here...It very much matters.

Even though I earned my Eagle Scout in 1999 I still put it on my CV. I also list my lifetime membership in NESA. I think it is entirely appropriate as it shows commitment, service, leadership etc.

I earned mine as well and still list it. It is a great accomplishment and something few scouts ever attain. Good job!
