I like Linda Li. Even though she's like hardcore perfectionist woman who's already planning her son's future as a physician, she still seems somewhat human (Her husband the anesthesiologist actually seems much more down to earth). Robert Rey's interactions with his patients just seem unprofessional to me and his wife, who's stays at home all day long and has help but feels overwhelmed with the kiddos constantly and doesn't eat (with a self professed desire to always be at least a little hungry) just annoys me. I guess she is the quintessential model of money not bringing happiness though.
 
Even though I don't watch the show, much I like Dr rey, becuase he took time out of his schedule to go to Mexico and volunteer to give surgery. But I cant give a favorite becuase I don't watch TV much.

I cannot believe that Dr. Rey is not board Certified!!!! I like him but he is very unprofessional with his female patients. His wife really gets on my nerves, she wishes the whole show was about her. All she does is complain how overwhelmed she is... living in her $5 million house (which he bought for her) and taking care of her 2 babies and fixing microwavable meals. She's rediculous. Dr. Li is my favorate along with the new set of Doctors, husband and wife couple. I think their last name is Evans? I'm not sure but they are African American (i think)
 
I really hate the one that does Taekwondo or kiddie karate or whatever that is. I seriously want to go beat the crap out of him and choke him out for being such a fruit and making all martial artists look like pansyweights.

He's as bad as the entire cast and crew of Final Fu put together, which is about the absolute worst you can possibly achieve in a human lifetime.
 
I've been following Dr. Rey's story the longest, so I guess I'll go with him.

His wife is pretty sad/pathetic. Perhaps she wouldn't be perpetually "overwhelmed" if she chose to eat every now and again. Starvation tends to have that disorienting effect on a person.
 
oh man, i'm all about dr. matlock. i think he's the biggest clown out of all of them because he actually details how he spends his money. rey is just pathetic - all he talks about is what he learned from his professors at harvard...even though he didn't do undergrad, med, or residency there.
 
Well with all the negativity I feel like I have to say that I like Dr. Rey's wife Hayley. So what she doesn't eat and she whines, she's human. I would have issues as well if my husband worked all day long and never came home and when he did come home he didn't really spend time with me because he was busy with other things. Plus Dr. Rey is a great guy. I don't think he's unprofessional I think he is just trying to be personable with his patients. At the end of the day who cares what anyone elses opinion is he has a lot of clients that keep coming in and obviously the viewing audience loves him and his wife that's why they keep bringing the show back. No disrespect intended but if the show was full of people like Dr. Li and others not many people would watch it because no one cares about the struggles of a doctor who is already planning for her eight month old son to be a physician.

Dr. Rey didn't go to Harvard med? What did he do there, then? I can't believe he's not board certified. He probably is my "favorite" but I really don't like anyone on that show.
 
Dr. Diamond and his wife seem to be the most "normal".

Yep that's the douche. Dr. Rey. Well, according to his bio on that site he studied some BJJ so maybe he's not totally hopeless. But seriously the show makes him out to be Queen of the McDojo so I hope that's just media warping him and not how he actually is... especially out in CA hes going to run into a Gracie and get his arms tied into pretzels.

I'd have to agree that dysfunctional ppl make for far more entertaining reality television.

As far as Hayley goes....she knew that when she married a plastic surgeon, he wouldn't exactly be on a 9-5 schedule. But his free time probably wasn't what she was interested in. And while raising children is a 24/7 career with no breaks, it is hard to find fulfillment in the daily chores of cooking, changing diapers, etc. You reap what you sew. Besides, there are ppl with more pressing problems then not getting to spend enough time with their extremely successful husbands.

I had no idea dr. rey wasn't certified!!
Personally, I don't like him though. It's true that he is very very unprofessional with his patients and with women in general. Considering he has a wife and kids at home, you'd think he would stop acting like a single man.
 
Dr. Rey gets ON MY NERVES and holds no favor with me...but at the same time I wanna say something about him not being board certified.
We have no idea why he isn't...clearly he is a good surgeon (freakish interactions with lady patients aside!) or they wouldn't put him on TV to feature his work, which you must admit turns out pretty nice.
English isn't his first language, right? He clearly knows his stuff, but maybe he can't read the english fast enough? Maybe he has test anxiety and is too proud to get help? Maybe he's too busy meditating on his martial arts during the exam to pass :p

As for who I support, it's Dr. Diamond! His wife has a bit of a dry personality, but he seems laid back and fun, though serious about his work. He's also an amazing young surgeon and if I wanted a nose or boob job, (never!) I would go to him.
 
Does anyone else think it's strange that curriculum is spelled wrong on the link for Dr. Rey's website? He did go to Harvard and all...:rolleyes:

ditto. dr. li rocks...and is very accomplished as the only board certified female plastic surgeon in the beverly hills area ;)
 
Ok can someone please clarify how these people are practicing if they are not board certified? I am very confused

wouldn't it make more sense for patients to know that this guy is conforming with certain regulations that the board of plastic surgeons has laid out?

The proof is in the pudding. He is extremely successful without it, so why waste your time studying for a test when there is money to be made.

exactly. board certification is not necessary at all. it is simply used as another way for the ama or whoever runs the certification process to make money off you for the time of ur examination and the rest of ur life through recertifications and such.

also, anyone who talks down on this dude for claiming he was educated at harvard is ******ed. he did his most recent fellowship there, and that training encompasses the majority of his work (breast implants done through the bellybutton). How could it possibly make more sense for him to say that he was harvard educated if he simply did undergrad there, or med school there? undergrad and med school don't speak nearly as much for his abilities as a surgeon as his fellowship.

im sure he just talks about the harvard thing to attract more people to his practice and give him credibility, which is something u guys would probably do as well if u were in his shoes. im sure he knows he appears as a chach on tv, but the reason most people pay attention to him over all the other docs is solely because hes such a fruit. more attention = more money for him through the success of the show and the constant flow of patients. hes a successful plastic surgeon, hes not that stupid...
 
As it was explained to me by a doctor, board certification exams have varying levels of difficulty. In some specialties only a small number of physicians are board certified because the exam is very hard, while something like 98% of FP's are certified.

You don't need to be board certified to practice, by the way.

i wouldn't mind so much if he didn't act like he was john harvard himself. everywhere he goes he wears a harvard sweatshirt, always drinks coffee in his harvard mug, et cetera. when you say that you are "harvard educated" the average person thinks that you did undergrad there - or, if you're a doctor or something, that you did your md/jd/whatever there.

as to why i would care whether he is board certified or not, it's just hard to believe that a trophy hunter like himself wouldn't do anything to distinguish himself, or get that added bit of prestige. during an interview i heard of him on the radio, he claims that the first thing to look for in a surgeon is that he is board certified. when asked if he himself is bc, he simply deflects the question and talks about harvard. no joke.

then again, he's the successful plastic surgeon with a $5M house and a porsche to boot. who the heck am i, lowly premed, to judge?
 
I like Dr. Li. Dr. Rey is cool too, I just wish he would let his wife eat, and would not try and make all his patients look like porn stars - then again, most of them ARE porn stars.

Dr. Diamond seems so boring and fake to me. And I really want to smack his wife - why become a doctor if you really don't like to job and want to quit and have kids, are you kidding?! (They, mostly she, have decided that she should quit her job on the last episode I saw, what a waste of 8+ years of her life).

Maybe she wants to do a good job raising her kids before going back to work? By your logic, should women who want to stay at home basically do nothing since it will all be a "waste"?

No no! Don't misunderstand! You have to see the episode, she flat out said she hated her job. I'm just saying she wasted 8+ years if she hates her job. Plus, they might not be having kids anytime soon she said, since they're buying a new house that is way out of their price range - so she just wants to quit to quit! not for the kiddies.
 
Ah - well yeah spending 8 years to get to a job that one hates would be unfortunate...

She's an internist if I recall so its only 7 years prob. So its not quite as unfortunate:laugh:

i'm curious...
if not, what questions would you ask some of these people if you could ask them stuff (be specific)?

LOL. Dude, you're hilarious. I always laugh at your posts. Didn't realize you were into martial arts... assuming some grappling in there? You're not going to UTHSCSA (San Antonio) by any chance, are you? That's where I'll be going this fall I'm hoping like hell there are some folks that I can roll with. Oh well, if not, maybe I'll set up an MMA club and start some interest. Or maybe fate will smile on me and there's some good MMA type schools in the vicinity of that school.

i don't think that it's so much taht she's asian than that she's female.
i like dr. diamond too, i think he's pretty down to earth and acts professionally.
 
Dr Diamond all the way...the guy rocks and seems the most down to earth...dont think i could honestly talk to anyone of those surgeons but he seems like a guy you could kick back with and play cards or something...Dr Rey= Tool Box

Dr Alter is certified in both plastics and urology; he's one of only a handful of doctors in the country who can do gender reassignment surgeries

I met Dr. Alter in person once (My uncle used to be a beverly hills plastic surgeon). He's a pretty nice guy. I voted for Dr. Rey because he's such a ridiculous human being. Who want to watch normal functional families on television?
 
I'm disgusted by the whole show in general.... :thumbdown:

and Dr. Rey is the biggest douchebag on the face of this earth :thumbup:
