Hey man, thanks, and congrats to you too. I obviously have not heard back from my remaining waitlist at another school, so I am 90% certain that I will be attending Drexel. Should I get another acceptance in the next few months (mabey by early spring), it will make for a much tougher call. Unfortunately, I do not think that I will get pulled off the waitlist that early, if I do at all. But we'll just see how it unfolds. 🙂
 
It's been bout 2 weeks(maybe even longer) since I noticed that my interview link has disappeared. Has anybody heard anything?
 
hey guys. i just noticed today that my interview linked disappeared (it might have been gone earlier, i just checked today).
I interviewed on 1/11.

Can anyone confirm that the disappearance of the link = acceptance?
Or can it mean waitlist/rejection too???

Goes for both waitlist and rejection as well.
 
I love how I mentioned this like 2 months ago and needed to egg people on to ask about the interview link disappearance thing.. And now this is the first thing people bring up 😀

No, though close. I have been waiting for over a quarter of a year and my links are still on the page ... I guess that's good in that I'm still under consideration, but man ...

Same for me, I hope that it comes today. I also hope that if it does come today that it makes my Valentine's Day even better.
When did you interview?
 
I interviewed 1/9 which is why I was surprised that my link already disappeared. I'll let you guys know if/when I get any news!

I'm curious to know what the fuss is about. $35K per year (though my MSAR is old) seems steep. Is it Philly? I'd really like to know because Jefferson and Temple don't seem to get as much love here even though they have similar MCAT averages and tuition costs.

To tell you the truth, I initially started researching them because I've heard of their undergrad. Never heard of a Temple or a Jefferson before my med school search. I added all 3 by the end.
 
probably cuz it is perceived as a school that one can get into without having the greatest numbers. it has a large class size, so more than the scanty few acceptances offered; mcat and gpa are reasonable, and i think that might be enough for many people. iit also has a large californian pop so may be attractive for west coast people that have a tough time getting into their state schools. unfortunately i don't think other important things get factored into the decision to apply; such as philly is a cool place; the clinical training for 3rd and fourth year seems to be really good (i am a smp student at drexel so can only speak as an observer) and students and faculty are for the most part approachable and down to earth.

this is my take on drexel. don't know much about temple and jeff except that they give me no love, actually no nothing as i haven't heard anything from them either way which is incredibly annoying.
 
I interviewed 11/10, not a peep from them yet 😳

There are pros and cons to both. I loved VCU's location and facilities. It is nice to be on a huge medical campus like that. I don't particularly like the traditional curriculum style (although what do I really know). Drexel has an innovative curriculum that may suit me better. I have family in Philly which is a big draw.
I wish I would have had my interview at Drexel on a school day rather than on a Saturday to see the students and gauge their attitudes and overall sentiment towards the school. The VCU students had nothing but praise for the school.

But, I recently interviewed at Loyola and found it to be amazing and would probably chose it over the other two given I had that choice.

Wow, sounds like you will have some great options and some tough decisions to make in your future. I too applied to VCU but got stuffed post-screening/pre-interview. Must have been my 7 in PS is all I can think of. I definitely agree about Drexel's innovative curriculum. I am very much drawn to it because I think it really suits my learning style. But your right that it is very isolated, unlike VCU. Which has both positive and negative aspects. Good luck to you man. It would be great to have you at Drexel but I hope that you have a number of options to choose from.

Well, its been over an hour and you havn't rushed in to post the good news. Hmmm. I was betting either today or tomorrow, so perhaps tomorrow will be the big day. I almost feel like I am waiting for my own letter with all of this anticipation. 😀

I got a small letter today🙁 Not a rejection gratefully. Dang, it would have relieved so much stress to be outrightly accepted. Thanks for all the good wishes everyone.

I've been following your Drexel journey because it reminds me very much of my own from 3 months ago. Don't be discouraged, WL is not a bad thing at all. Just stay persistent and I bet we'll get off this thing!!!

Dude, thank goodness that you are still in the running! I feel for your dissappointment at getting a waitlist (I definitely have been there), But at least now you know that your not rejected (and Drexel does reject applicants post-interview). I am totally pulling for you and Robizzle both. Now we just need to research when Drexel's waitlist movement really gets going (I know that they get significant movement, so keep your hopes alive). Plus, you have like 3 other schools that you have a shot at as well 😉

Please Drexel, let my friends in!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
 
Thanks for the encouragement. It definitely isn't the end of the world, it just stings a bit. I need to write that letter to let them know I want to be on the waitlist. Robizzle, what did you write in yours? Should include some Letter of Intent type wording?

LOL to tell you the truth, I just sent in the bottom portion of the letter they sent me. I just signed and dated, and checked that I wanted to be on the WL, I assumed this was the "writing" they wanted. Now that I look back this was ******ed.

However, I did send in an update/letter of interest a couple weeks ago. This will hopefully make up for my stupidity.

So yeah, I never expressed "intent" but I did tell the truth and tell 'em they were the top choice of the schools I've visited. 😀
 
hey robizzle and tandski..i've been reading your posts for a while and i wish you both good luck. i hope both of you get into drexel and maybe we can be future classmates. Also, when i was talking to the student interviewer during my interview, he told me that he was also waitlisted. upon inquiry he told me that getting on the drexel waitlist is not a bad thing. so keep your hopes up and good luck!

That is good to hear whyadoctor. I just need one acceptance! The stress relief will be wonderful! But it is more waiting now, I should get used to it
 
I just wanted to wish everyone who's waiting good luck too. This is one of the few threads I follow. I too will be attending Drexel (really liked the school) unless I am accepted at my state school. Hopefully waiting a few more weeks won't seem as bad considering the application cycle started ~8 months ago...hang in there! 🙂

I interviewed at Drexel on Jan 24th and LOVED it. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

After following this thread I have started compulsively checking my application status waiting for the interview link to go away even though I'm only about half way through the 6-8 weeks they said it would take.. I just checked.. and the link is gone! That seems too fast! Makes me very worried :scared:

Maybe they stumbled upon this thread and realized that they weren't taking down people's interview links? :laugh:
 
i don't know if this helps, but i interviewed 1/9 and my acceptance was dated 1/30 (i got the letter 2/5)...good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Looks like the interview link might really mean something - I just called Drexel to check my status and a decision has been made and is in the mail!

Seems like Phili to Cali should take about three days... Let the insane waiting at the mailbox begin! 😀
 
Does a late decision notice=waitlist/rejection? It seems liek everyone who got accepted on here got their decisions pretty quick. I interviewed the first week of january and still haven't heard anything and my interview link is still there while there are people who interviewed after me and have already gotten a decision (mostly acceptances). How does Drexel's sytem work? Is there really a pattern? Anyone waited a very long time for their acceptance? thanks guys!
 
I just got my Drexel acceptance! 😀 Yea! I am a post-bacc linkage student, so my advisor told me the good news. Now I have to do well on the MCAT (sigh, furrowed brow) and I'm in. So cool, so cool. I have just been waiting and waiting to post this kind of message!

Congratulations! I'm a post-bacc myself (UC Davis tho and still waiting on Drexel) and we've had quite a journey to get this far. 👍

I'd like to know that myself.(Well and how does the waitlist work? I mean I'm guessing there's rankings on your stats but also how soon you turn in your letter.)

For the period that I have been following it, I have not been able to pick out a correlation. I would think that the longer it takes, the tougher decision it is for them. But a quick decision can mean that it was an easy decision for rejection as well as acceptance. So don't worry, just wait to see which letter you get. Good luck!

I applied through thru the open pool. I did my postbacc at UC Davis so no linkage for me.

For those that were accepted, did your status online change at all, before or after your letter was received?
 
my application status hasn't changed at all and i was accepted 2 weeks ago
 
interviewed early december, decission dated jan 11, recieved decission jan 23
 
what?? how does it take 12 days for a letter to make it through the mail? the usps says first class is up to 3 days! 😎 I hate waiting.
