Just letting everybody know, I'm giving up another Drexel interview spot. :-D Good luck!

I also just thought about this: for those of you who interviewed and have heard back, did you send in thank-you notes to your interviewer shortly after your interview? If so, were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected or do you think it makes any difference? I sent thank-you notes to Wake and ECU, but not to Drexel (I forgot my interviewers name and didn't save my paper with his name) and was wondering if this might have something to do with why they are meeting today on me after I interviewed only three weeks ago (such as they hold applicants who do not send in thank-you notes in low regard and this might mean an early rejection for myself)

I sent in thank you notes to Dr. Hanau and both of my interviewers the following week. I received an acceptance in the mail 6 weeks post-interview. However, I seriously doubt that they base their decisions on whether or not thank you notes were sent. It is not required, it's just etiquitte. I really wanted to send them though because I enjoyed my interview day so much and really felt that they went out of their way to welcome me and learn more about me as a candidate. My previous experience at another school was quite different (I did not send thank you notes to my interviewers there, but did send one to the Director of admissions for offering me the opportunity to interview). I was waitlisted at said school. I'm sure its just a coincidence though.

I posted this yesterday, but still haven't gotten a response. For those of us who called yesterday, is it possible that they won't make any sort of decision on us, or will the committee go ahead and make an accpet/reject/waitlist decision? Also, does it really seem to hold true that those who are reviewed early tend to get a favorable answer?

Hey kfire, I would take the interview, I really liked Drexel. I have dealt with the admissions office a couple of times and gotten an attitutde as well, but today when I called to confirm my link for interview disappearing (I interviewed on Valentine's day) they were extremely nice. The schoolbuilding itself is very impressive (only about 14 years old) and they just added onto it. All of the students I came into contact with were extremely nice and enthusiastic about being there, and the interviews were very painless (1 30 min. interview with a student over lunch and 1 fac. interview). One thing that you may consider a drawback (although I don't) is that the medical school is kinda away from center city and the actual hospital with which drexel is associated with, so you have to drive or take a shuttle from the actual school to the hospital (shuttle ride is roughly 10 minutes). There regular curriculum is comparable to most other integrated curriculums and their PIL program is pretty cool (although I doubt that if I get accepted I will pursue that route). I doubt that it matters anyway. Its just a courtesy (and some schools even specifically request that letters NOT be sent). That being said, applying for residency positions is a whole new ball game. Definitely send them when that time comes.

I'll deal with that in a few years...trying to take things 1 step at a time, here.

No, they met yesterday, lady in admissions told me they meet every Thursday, notify the admissions office if they decide something on those that they review on friday, print up letters on monday, and then send them out on tuesday, so that if they did make a decision on us yesterday, then they will mail it out by latest next tuesday. From the looks of it though, their mail is really slow and unpredictable according to this forum, so it still may be a week from next tuesday before we get anything in the mail IF they do decide on us. Best of luck to you njmd (that might be backwards) and maybe we'll be getting some good news together soon!

So are the interviews now for actual spots or are you guys basically fighting to join me on the wait list? (Come to think of it I guess they're going to start going into the wait list soon. Anybody know when they start that? I'm still hopeful of course but I wouldn't be surprised if I had to reapply.)

I called the admissions office today and they stated that they have made a decision on me, and that its out in the mail...so now I get to play the ridiculous drexel snail mail waiting game as many of you have done so. Any suggestions how to kill time (other than watching my pack play in the nit and my heels play in the tourney) since it seems that mail from drexel takes a year or so to just leave philly?

I think you should be happy that your decision is on its way. Your link disappeared the same day as mine did but when i called the admissions office they told me there is no decision on my file yet. I hate this waiting game!! 😡

If you go to committee after May 15th (around that date?), then there is a better probability that there will be more spots to fill. Prior to that it is up in the air.

An admissions person will never actually say this... but for some reason, every time the link disappears and people call about their status a few days later, a decision was made. Take this with a grain of salt though, FWIW.

Based on all of the reports on SDN, it coincides. Although if you call right after it disappears, they may still say that your under review. However, no one has reported that they received a decision before the link has disappeared. The average time is about 10-15 days after the link disappearing before you have a letter in your mailbox. Maybe a little sooner if you live near the school.

The letter was dated March 15th and it only took two days for me to receive it even though I live in CA. They took a while to get the mail out.

I have a question to those who got in to Drexel. The packet I received is from the office of financial aid and the letter is signed from the financial aid director. THe first line of the letter did say 'Congratulations on your admission to Drexel..." however everything in the packet is about finaid stuff. How do I accept my admission? Will i be receiving something else shortly in the mail?? Did my financial aid stuff arrived before my actually acceptance packet? When do we start school? Hehehe I need to plan a vacation. We all really deserve a vacation after this horrendous application cycle. What have you guys received from Drexel so far? I hope someone can answer my questions. Thanks!

you got the financial aid packet. there is a separate admittance packet that will ask you if you want ifm or pil and will ask you to return a deposit. not to worry you but you might want to give them a call make sure they have sent this packet as well, so you don't miss the deadline.

yes!! congrats. but the other packet has the deposit info as well as the curriculum selection form and i believe these have a deadline (deposit two tweek deadline) so you just want to be sure they have sent out the other packet as well. mistakes can happen. congrats again!

I just received my financial aid packet on Sat.. Yours should be coming any time now, assumming that you already sent in your FAFSA. 🙂

a random question - any of you Drexel accepteds planning on a deferal of matriculation? I haven't talked to addmissions about it yet, but am planning to defer to finish my masters (i'm half way through it now) (yes, this will open a spot for someone on the waitlist) - anyone know how late I can ask for this? I'm still waiting to hear back from my number 1 choice (and apparently slowest responding in the country) and dont want to have to give up on them to get my deferal at Drexel. THANKS
