I didn't see a formal thread for everyone going to Drexel in about 5 weeks(!) so I thought this would be a good time for everyone to just that. And maybe list screen name, where you're from, which program you're going into, and whateverrrr else. Oh and where's everyone living?

I might be there too...just debating between Drexel MSP and the BU program.
 
i just got a call about my acceptance today! but yeah i'd still like to wait a bit to hear from the other places i applied....

what are u guys thinking of doing for housing? grad dorms or gonna get an apt?
 
Im thinking about living in Stiles Hall apartments on N15th street. There are still available 2 and 3 bedrooms available.
 
I'm probably going to do Stiles Hall. It's just too much work and hassle to find a place close to school through the internet. On that note, would anyone be interested in finding a place for us Drexelers off campus?
 
i just got a call this morning about my acceptance to the ims program.

about housing, are you guys going to arrange housing before you get there or after? im not sure how to go about this.

Hi all,

I'm wondering, when did all of you apply to the program? Are you picking this one over others? (ie, g-town, BU, etc...)

I am planning on doing the IMS program if i do not have any luck with waitlists. I will be living in the Art Museum area with my wife who is going to Temple Law. Hope you guys are having a good summer.

looks like i'll be doing drexel msp as well. I need to boost my mcat scores a little. i might opt for stiles hall-it's easier.

For those of you who got accepted to MSP, what questions did they ask you? How long was the interview? Are they friendly? Was it a face to face interview or a phone interview? Thanks a bunch! 🙂

Mine was a half-hour phone interview with a previous MSP/IMS student. Mainly she wanted to know my motivation for studying medicine, like any volunteer opps in medicine, including how and why I think the MSP/IMS program would benefit me. It was informal and casual overall. I hope this helps, but you might search SDN for "drexel msp interviews" as I think there are more detailed answers to your question. Good luck.

I have an apartment about 8 blocks from the Center City campus (21st and Cherry) that will be available in August (I told my landlord that I would help him rent the place if I could). It's very nice and quite convenient, although a tad pricey at $850/month. I'll even let you sleep on my couch for the last days of July if you'll help me move over to East Falls.
 
Hey everybody on this board... I am a Drexel IMS Hopefull *fingers crossed* .. I too live in California right now. I have my interview this Friday first thing in the morning. So if everything goes well when do you guys think I could find out about an acceptance? I believe the program starts on August 1st, so the sooner the better eh? LOL Anways, any feedback about how the timing went with your interview and acceptance would be awesome. Also have you guys had any luck with financial aid yet? I am going to have to finance mine so I am a little nervous about that...
 
Hey guys! I'm starting the Drexel IMS program in August...I'm from Texas, so this winter thing will be interesting for me! As for housing, I got an apartment in Washington Square, but the rent is unbelievable ($1900/month!). (I have a cat so Stiles was out for me...) I'm really excited about this program, I think it's going to be wonderful, and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in about 3 weeks..my AIM name is BaylorGirl05, feel free to IM me anytime, I don't know anyone in Philly, so I'd love to chat!

To the previous question about picking Drexel over others, I picked it over BU and NYMC...
 
are you guys bringing your cars with you? im coming from ca so bringing one would be a big pain (long drive)

Congratulations to everyone though, it is still my first choice so if I am accepted I will see you guys in a couple weeks!
 
Same here, I got waitlisted too. I got a letter via Fedex today and I have to mail in the reply. Question, did yours have either the IMS or MSP circled? Mine wasn't circled for some reason (the letter requesting the signature-- under the telephone contact)?

I haven't received the letter yet... I have been so excited about the program I have called them almost every other day, lol Anyways, I spoke with the office yesterday and she told me I was on hold, but she also told me that I would be receiving the letter in the mail soon. So I could always let you know then.

Congratulations though xdothedew, waitlist is better than a rejection eh? You should be proud of yourself because that is an accomplishment as well... Are you planning on going to any other programs if you don't get in?
 
Thanks JPagan! Yeah, I'm excited and I hope I get in. I also applied to PCOM and UPenn but they are still reviewing my file. Drexel is my first choice though and then PCOM since they give you the chance to earn a Master's. I think you only get a certificate with UPenn so that's my last choice.

Lol... I applied to the IMS program... I can't remember but I don't think I qualified for the msp program for some reason or the other, I dunno... Ya it is a great program... I applied to Upenn also, but ya the fact that it is only a certificate program is a little dissapointing, but they have a lot of pro's too. That being said, I LOVE the fact that at Drexel you take actual medical school classes. That, and for more reasons, is why it is my first choice... I guess we will see... I will definitely let you know if I find out anything. Good luck with all three of the programs dothedew!
 
I was accepted to the IMS program about two weeks ago. I live in S. Jersey so I will most likely be taking the High Speed Line to Philly then catching a bus to Drexel.
 
I just got the Call!!! I am in! Yay!! Lol

This was by far my first chocie so I will definitely be attending... Any future IMSer's out there, Kim in the Admissions office is awesome... She was there to help me through everything, and it was a great experience dealing with her through this process!!

SO I will see all you other IMSers in a couple weeks!!

My situation is similar to that of JPagan. I received a rather cryptic message telling me to call back about my application status yesterday. I was expecting them to tell me I was rejected, but *surprise* it turns out that I've been accepted to IMS.

For now I'll wait for my acceptance packet to arrive and then figure out how I'll move there. Would anyone be interested in looking for housing together as potential roommates? If so, please PM me.
 
Hey everyone...

I'm still waitlisted for the IMS program and figuring I'm out of the running with classes starting so soon.

I applied really late, and have an UG GPA of 2.95 with a 30 MCAT. Any of you guys who got pulled in late around this, or should I be making other plans?
