i'm convinced that whether or not you get an interview, or an acceptence, or a rejection, is based on so many different factors, that i would wager there have been times that the mood of the person reviewing your application is the deal-breaker. or what the weather is like outside. you get the idea. it's chaos!

It's, to a certain degree, ILLOGICAL!

We should not blame ourselves. As premeds and future physicians, we are trained to be logical and reason based on facts.

another Drexel rejection... post-interview, too. honestly, i didn't think the interview went too well, so i guess i'm not terribly surprised, but still... i was hoping. 🙁

why did you think it went badly?? were there specific questions you didnt know how to answer? Im so sorry about this. I am waiting for my letter post-interview and am totally freaking out. Some schools just place students on holds / waitlists post interview. I didnt know Drexel can reject flat out, especially so early in the cycle. I feel your pain. 🙁

What the hell? I interviewed at Drexel on 9/20 and still haven't heard a damn thing. I'm wondering if I should call but I feel like people are just getting vague responses anyway. I guess I'll just wait until I get my rejection letter in the mail.

whoa! why are you assuming you got rejected? Just think, your 9/20 interview is still really about four weeks ago. Didnt they say we should hear 6-8 weeks from date of interview? I am very anxious too though, so I understand how you feel. Just dont strike it off to a rejection just yet. I think only one person on this thread got a rejection post-interview. The rest have been pre-interview rejections. Good luck. I hope you hear something good soon. 🙂

They didn't tell me 6-8 weeks. I think they said the admissions committee meets once a week, and they try to stay caught up to within a few weeks. Maybe the official party line is 6-8 weeks though, I don't know.

VPDcurt, nobody has received acceptances yet. Waitlists either. So the fact that you haven't heard doesn't mean anything. People have only gotten rejections so far, so it actually might be a good thing that you haven't heard. Calling won't do any good, though. The woman on the phone was sitting there looking at a computer screen that said exactly what had happened with my application, and all she would say was "a decision has been made, you should hear in 5 to 10 business days." lol

I was just trying to throw a little bit of humor into the situation when I said the whole rejection thing. I'd tell you my stats, but I don't really see the point. My MCAT is actually pretty good, but my GPA has been known to induce vomiting. I still have hope though - I'm just getting anxious.

Ugh....I don't know what's going on with Drexel. I told them I am submitting an updated letter along with my old Committee letter. I sent the updated letter along with my secondary and fees and I even added a forwarding letter to clarify this matter. I thought it was all good, once I got that completion postcard.

Fast forward to 2 weeks later, e-mail from Drexel...very excited. But wait...it's just an e-mail saying they never got the updated letter. To avoid wasting time, I tell them that I'll have it resent. Today after calling in and being bounced around from two admissions people, I am told that the updated letter is shown to have been received but it's not in the file.

And today at nearly 5:30pm, I got an e-mail confirmation saying that the letter has been received and my file is complete and up for review. So, moral of the story: When sending secondaries, DO NOT send anything else because, the school tear through the envelope like a pack of Hyenas and smell only the ink on the check.

At any rate, can anyone tell me how long did it take them to hear anything from Drexel after completion?

No, but I did get an interview invite via snail mail from Drexel yesterday. Looking at the OOS stats from last year's MSAR, it looks like 6500 applied, roughly 1500 interviewed, and 160 matriculated. Those are steep cuts... hmm, what to do, what to do...

i think thats because drexel has a very large turn over rate. many people simply decide not to go. It would be interesting to see how many people were actually accepted to drexel OOS, but i dont think that number is given in MSAR.

This is what priceton review says:

All AMCAS applicants receive secondary applications. Of those returning secondaries, about 10 percent are interviewed between September and March. The interview typically consists of two sessions, each with a faculty member or administrator. Of interviewed candidates, about one-third are accepted on a rolling basis. Wait-listed candidates may send transcripts or other material to update their files.

i would schedule it far from now(i think they've only got Dec/Jan dates to offer right now anyway). that way you don't shoot yourself in the foot and if you hear back from another school (that's higher on your list) you can decline the interview...

So I e-mailed drexel to find out about my status (pre-interview), and this is the reply I got:

Your file is complete and has been reviewed. Your file is pending further
review.

Does that mean the admissions committee has already looked at my file and is deciding whether to interview me or not? Is this like an unstated hold, or am I reading too much into it? Why do schools have to be so cryptic about everything. Geez.

Also, they said that letters are generated on Mondays and Wednesdays, so I suppose they are sent out Tuesdays and Thursdays. I am really scared right now since nobody is getting good news from them

well there was someone that got an acceptance already. dont worry. i think we will all hear something very soon. Its strange, but i have this total dread of my mailbox. i actually get relieved when there is no mail... ahh, this wait is torture!!!

i was there 9/30 too, now you've got me nervous!! but who knows, it seems that a lot of people who interviewed earlier have still yet to hear anything so maybe we've still got a couple of weeks to wait. ugh!! 😳 let me know if you hear anything!! and good luck!
