I dont think they get pissed off... at least no one got pissed off at me for calling every week! good luck!!!
RayhanS1282 said:Off topic but I have a reuqest to any and all of youse who interviewed at Drexel. Can you just give me a rough idea of what the interview is like there...i.e. stress, non-stress, lots of hypothetical ethics questions, close scrutiny of abominable grades, BDSM and nipple clamps..etc..etc. Any hotel recommendations?
My POV:
I read almost all of the 260+ feedbacks on the SDN and so far the student interview seems laid back and it seems that you have to go to the hospital (25 min ride) in order to do the faculty interview.
It seems painless enough but I am still ****ting bricks. Anyone care to add to this?

Strangely, I had a dream last night where I had an interviewer who was an old lady. And the interview was taking place inside a tank!!! She asked me about my grades and reasons for its crappiness. She didn't buy any of my reasons and kept saying "I don't agree with your assessment". And then when leaving she said, good luck at other schools and while coming out of the tank, my belt malfunctioned and I dropped my pants and I went commando!!! 😱

rayhan you should really not stress out too much. i know exactly how you feel cause it was my first interview and i was anxious too. the interview i had there last week was very low-stress. there were about 12 applicants there and everybody came out saying their interviews were easy and fine.
the only negative thing i can think about is that you can't really have a good idea of what they are really thinking of you as a candidate for their school, for you to think you may be accepted or not. since EVERYBODY thinks they had an excellent interview.
i would recommend the holiday inn on city line. priceline it to get the best rate! they were very familiar with drexel med applicants there.
good luck rayhan!!

I'll drink to that.RayhanS1282 said:Best of luck to you....here's to a large envelope.
I just interviewed there today. I liked the school, but I found it hard to really gauge how my interview went. My interviewer wasn't a clinician and didn't seem at all interested in my work. All she wanted to do was grill me on my rather circuitous academic career for 45 minutes. Lunch was nice and I had good conversation with the student interviewer.amk25a said:My interviews were non-stress, sort of. My student interviewer never showed up so they had to grab a different student who had come in early to interview me. That went fine. She was nice and apologetic of the confusion. The faculty interview was just down the hall (NOT at the hospital) and I was late getting there since my student interview began 15 minutes late. The faculty interviewer made a comment about me being late but I explained it. But then he ended the interview after 10 minutes (I was 5 minutes late and then he stopped 15 minutes early!) only giving me a chance to ask like one question. I thought I was done for but actually got an acceptance a month later. All of the students I met there were very friendly and outgoing.
medstylee said:just wanted to remark on something i found funny about my waitlist letter.
a) it says "The Medical Student Admissions Committee of Drexel University College of Medicine has reviewed your application following your recent interview." ha - what a joke. recent = 3 months???
b) then they go on to ask that i indicate my desire to remain on the waitlist as soon as possible.
oh the irony, huh?![]()
anyway, i hope you guys still waiting don't have to go through the hellish wait that i had to endure. best of luck. drexel really is a good school, they just don't seem to have the adequate resources to deal with the volume of applications they get.
C.P. Jones said:want to start a "waitlisted applicants that took forever to review" club going? i call president....i need some leadership 🙂
medstylee said:yeah man. i'll be the vp. we'll make t-shirts: "i survived drexel med admissions' feats of endurance, and all i got was this lousy waitlist letter"
chicklett1 said:Sorry you guys had such a long wait. Maybe I'll hit you up for a club membership in like June or something. Drexel told me maybe I'd hear back at the end of February, but from other people's experiences, it sounds like that might actually mean March or April. On the plus side, they did tell me that in past years lots of people got off the waitlist. Last year they got well into the second third of the waitlist groups, so good luck!![]()
medstylee said:well, i finally got my response today - waitlisted. i'm really pissed off. the apparent apathy of my interviewer, the fact that s/he didn't seem to know anything about medicine, and the fact that i had to wait for 3 months for one person to review my application really makes me feel like drexel doesn't give a damn about my application. i think i might be at the pinnacle of my frustration with this process at this moment. 👎
medstylee said:i really don't think the long wait correlates with waitlist or rejection. i know in my case, things took so long because one of my application reviewers had been really tardy in returning my application review. beponychick waited a very long time for a response and she was accepted, so don't lose hope. best of luck.
beponychick said:Hi medstylee,
Im so sorry to hear about your waitlist. I totally agree that waiting this long for a waitlist spot is totally crazy. I thought mine and CPs wait was the longest... around 11 weeks or so, but I hear people are topping that now... But I guess yes, the a long wait does not necessarily mean a waitlist or rejection. Argh, i hope you get in off the waitlist.. It would be so fun to have you as a classmate... have you gotten any other acceptances to soften the blow?

My interview is this Saturday and does anyone have any last minure pointers, tips, sacrificial ideas? Anyone know if there is a TV to catch up on the morning cartoons? Also, I am curious, does it take longer to hear back if you interview at the hospital as opposed to the school? And finally what is the mystery meat in hot dogs?
USArmyDoc said:I was just told via a status update that a decision has been made and a letter has been mailed. Since I know drexel invites via email, I am rejected. 🙁

drexel interviews are known to be easy and laid back. everybody was very nice there, starting from the security officer at the reception desk.
there is no tv to catch up on cartoons, unfortunately. and don't pipe up during presentations and offer idiotic comments like one girl i interviewed with. your interview day should be over early in the afternoon, so if you have time, go see the "body worlds" exhibit at the franklin institute. you can get same day tickets easy!

peace84 said:I have a question. I sent in my secondary at the end of August and my letters were sent in by September. I never got a complete notice or a hold notice or anything. I sent an email asking about my status over a month ago and never got a response. So I just called the adm. office to see what's going on and the woman said she was downloading my letters now and sending my app. in for review. Does this make sense? If everything has been there for months, why wouldn't it have already been reviewed?
