i just talked to them, and they told me the waitlist has been moving (now, obvious for us) and that they will notify via email or phone.

i was afraid to ask for my own info b/c i've already done that b4 and they wouldn't tell me.....i have secondaries ready to send out, but i just don't want to do it!!!!

i was actually wondering, what happens if i send in my 2ndaries, the next day drexel calls, can i cancel all my checks? what would those schools do?

i would def cancel them, who cares what those schools think. i called drex few days ago and the secretary asked for my amcas ID and told me my status (still waitlisted 😡 ) over the phone so I think at this point u can call in and ask whats up

Probably wouldn't be a big deal to cancel the checks. I would just call/email the schools and tell them what you were doing and why. I'm sure they would understand.

wow...theyve started accepting off the waitlist before they even finished handing out post-interview decisions...drexel is really one of a kind

I would definitely call the Admissions Office. They should be able to tell you whether you're on the wait list. Confusing ... well ... it's Drexel!

yeah, i definitely think that you should call them up. i interviewed in late april and got my post-interview response about 2 weeks ago. since they are on to the waitlist, i would assume they should have sent those post-interview letters out by now. it might be important to get that ASAP because if they invite you to join the waitlist, you're supposed to send a letter back to them letting them know that you want to be on the wait list. good luck.

<sigh> 🙁 Just thought I'd share how I feel at this point about getting in. I wonder if Drexel can send out acceptances any day of the week or is there a particular day that they look at all the waitlisted folks.

I had given up hope for this year. Hearing that people ARE actually getting off the WL has left me thinking that maybe ... just maybe ... I still have a chance. Damn ... I'm a bundle of nerves again ... 🙁

Now that Madonna has given the rest of us a ray of light, what do you guys think. Since Drexel's waitlist has started moving so late this year, do you think that this yeat more people will get accepted this late. I want to stop analyzing this whole waitlist situation, but everytime I leave SDN (or my computer for that matter) I can't stop thinking about getting off the waitlist. At this point, I can't even enjoy my weekend (when is monday going to begin?? arrrrghhh).

So what are my fellow drexel waitlisters thinking about this. Is the waitlist going to move at Drexel just like the past years predict, but just this late? <sigh>

To be honest TCIrish, that is a great idea, looking for places right away just incase. But I just liked philly so much (so different from cali), that when I visited I knew I wanted to be there for my med school years. I know if I started to look for places and didn't get in, I would be even more depressed. I guess, I am risking the last minute hustle to find housing if the following green clover comes through for me and I get in. And then some more for some more good luck .

yep. after 3 years, 25+15+16 schools. first acceptance. i sent my 4th amcas of 25 schools just 3 days ago...gonna try to get my refund now.

I feel ya. It's totally up and down. I've finally given in to the fact that it is unlikely that I will get in and have motivated myself to fix my personal statement and re-do this whole process.

Submitted amcas 2007 a couple of weeks ago. Figured if a miracle happened this year i wouldn't mind losing the money. But it doesn't look like any miracles are coming my way. I wonder if it would help if i moved from Illinois to California. Both madonna and eddaman are from California. Look east admissions office, look east ...

Knowing Drexel, if you call them, they will probably say something to the effect of "we haven't gotten to the waitlist yet, but plan to by the end of the week".

Is Drexel going through the same thing as some other schools where the waitlist this year has been unusually slow? If there is indeed no movement on the waitlist, you think they'd be able to predict this trend earlier in the year (more people accepting Drexel's admissions offers this year, i.e.) and not place so many people on the waitlist. I believe Drexel was placing people on the waitlist up until a few weeks ago. You'd think that they expect much more waitlist movement than whats happening looking at the number of people recently waitlisted.

I'm still hoping that since they just recently finished looking at interviewed applicants, their waitlist is just having late movement but they will eventually take similar number of people as previous years. AAAARrrrrrghhhhh (not advertising for pirates of the caribbean or anything...just frustrated)

Hehe, I thought about the whole caribbean mention and the fact that that is in fact my backup. I'm pretty much set (housing, financial aid, etc) to go to St. George's in the Caribbean if this and SLU's waitlist don't move.

There are times where I lose all hope and then I see people on this website getting off waitlists. i.e. I just noticed that Vizsla, a SDN member who is also waiting for Drexel just got into VCU (Congrats BTW!!), and other people who just received their first acceptance, keep giving me hope. I guess I'm already uneasy thinking about med school waitlists everyday, but if I decide to lose hope, than I will get depressed.

Also, a side thing, moving to a caribbean is a whole another lifestyle change. I honestly don't mind this (that's why I applied to SGU), but I worry about things like finding the right foods that I can eat (intolerant of wheat flour...crappy disease) and being able to get meds regularly and supplies for my insulin pump (Type 1 Diabetes) and other less-critical adjustments. Sorry for making this the "learn more about Kitt9000" post, but not having to worry about stuff like this would just make my main goal, studying medicine, alot easier.

I know many of us may be on meds and have other issues that would make living away from civilization tougher, so it's probably not just an exclusive thought.

But then again, after a while, one can get used to pretty much any environment, especially a tropical island (unless it really is at risk for being overtaken by pirates or something).

Anyhow, sorry if I bored you guys...but let's keep on rooting for the whole Drexel acceptance thing... !
