Dublin

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i can't find the thread with the two canadians asking about coming to dublin from canada....

my friend said she'd be happy to talk about dropping everything and moving over here. i just need your email addresses. can you PM me?

thanks!

You have mail 😀

Just e-mailed John Buckley, for the second time, asking about my application status, and here's what I got:

"I have checked with the Admissions committee it appears we do not have
transcripts for California State Polytech-Pomona (Cal Poly-Pomona).

You are currently wait listed, but it would assist with your ranking on
the wait list if you could forward me (address below) your most up to
date transcript from California State Polytech-Pomona.

Kind Regards
John Buckley"

...But on the online status page it says they received all my materials back in January (...?).
I e-mailed him back this, and of course am sending new ones, but I'm still not quite sure... does this mean they lost my transcripts?

On a side note, after doing some more research on international schools I noted that Dublin seems to be quite a bit pricier than the rest.

It's about 30% more than Glasgow and 25% more than Edinburgh on a per year basis. So what made you guys pick UCD over Glasgow and Edinburgh (both of which do offer a 4-year program option)?

My reasons:

- I've always wanted to go to Ireland. (St. Patrick's Day, its cool 😎 etc.)

- UCD stated that they were specifically starting a 4 year program for us grads (unlike Glasgow, Royal, and others, that have that 5 year option looming). most of the SDNers that I have seen on here that got into Glasgow (and royal, including myself) only got into the 5 years. There is no way I'd do more than 4 years after graduating. The AAVMC website had Glasgow only stating a 5 year program and I don't know about what Edinburgh had on the website when I applied.

- Comparing Ireland to Scotland is like comparing apples and oranges to me.

- The cost of living will be higher, but its just like paying for an out of state school.

Many other reasons..... :luck:😍

Actually St. Patrick's Day is more of a serious religious holiday when Irish catholics attend church and such. But there is no shortage of tourists there to drink with you! And there will be no shortage of Irish people drinking on basically every other day of the year. You pretty much get the same thing in England and Scotland ... adh mor ort!

I don't know why people are acting like Ireland is the same as other countries. Yes, ive never been there , but I am sure the experiences there are just as unique and different as Scotland and Englands' separate and unique experiences. 😍

oh no, I didn't mean that! But they do have one cultural thing in common (drinking)...that's all I meant.

Tayaki... Come back from spring break!!! I still want to hear about UCD's facilities!!!!! 😛

i cant decide if i should stay on campus or off. i wanted to stay on campus being it is a new place and i dont know anyone but then i wanted to bring my dog and if i did living on campus would be out of the question. what are most people doing?

This might be a little late for this question, but anyone got any good advice about financial aid for dublin?

im hoping to get my own apartment (and thats like 1,000-1,200 euros a month), because if i want to live somewhere all year round the dorms wont work (they leave you homeless for AT LEAST a week if you do the UCD village during the summer).
