diosa428 said:Sorry, hope I'm not giving everyone a heart attack by bumping this, but I had to do it anyway 🙂 People started hearing last year on May 16th...
kasha said:Did you check the waitlist thread from last year?
diosa428 said:Yeah they started calling people the morning of the 16th... it seems like everyone last year got calls, but I personally know a girl who got an email so I dunno. Check it out if you're bored/obsessive like me:

OHare said:So if they're meeting today, we probably won't hear 'til tomorrow...
kasha said:not necessarily true. last year the first phone calls were made on monday the 16th. the adcoms must have met that same day no?
Hassler said:Admissions Office told me that Committee will meet on Tuesday May 16th. Hang in there guys and gals!!! Good luck to all of us and especially me!! 😀

DrinkSKYY said:For those of you who got in: did they say anything about financial aid? I just got word from another school that they are offering me a 10k/year scholarship - it's a good school, though I had originally intended on holding out for Duke or Penn. Seems like it would be a tough call to make if I didn't know how much 4 years at Duke (or wherever) would cost.
kirexhana said:for M1, it costs 41k tuition and 61k total which is kind of understandable considering it's 12 months of school instead of 9 for most programs. 2nd year gets more expensive up to 64k (13 months), i believe 3rd year goes back down to 61k (12 months) + there's an opportunity for getting funding for research and 4th year is 60k (8 months)?
i don't have my worksheet on me tho, so i can't tell you for sure.

DrinkSKYY said:I don't think I was quite clear on what I was asking - When will the university compile your financial aid award (if you just got off the waitlist)? I know Duke has a lot of cash available, and much of it is need based. What are the odds of getting any of that if you're coming off the waitlist, and when might you know what you're getting, if anything?
IHaveLab said:I'm in too!! See you all in Durham!!!
PS. Shoot, tuition is expensive...oh well...it's DUKE!

kasha said:when did they call you?
diosa428 said:I had my parents send all their tax returns back in April so the lady in admissions told me to call fin aid tomorrow to make sure they have everything. I'm planning on asking them how long they think it will take to hear about aid.
Does anyone know how this off the waitlist thing works? I was too excited to ask when I got the call... we have like 2 weeks to decide if we accept the acceptance? Will the other school that I'm holding an acceptance at know that I'm off the waitlist and withdraw me?
diosa428 said:I'm pretty sure that you still get good aid if you come off the waitlist. In one of the old threads (maybe last year?) someone said that they got off the waitlist in June or July and ended up with more aid than they got from the school they were holding an acceptance at. The whole "formula" that they presented during interviews still applies to waitlistees, as far as I am aware.
bamf7 said:I think the calls are done for the day. Maybe tomorrow...

Someone from the admissions office, probably one of her administrative assistants.OHare said:So who calls? Dr. Armstrong?
dr cot said:Got the big call. I think a tear formed in the right corner of my eye. Not sure. It tasted kinda salty.

almost_there said:Mr. Wallace told me that we have until June 1st. 🙂
I think AAMC policy is that the school that accepts students off the waitlist IMMEDIATELY notify (by phone) the school which the student already is accepted to. I imagine that the same rules apply in terms of how long you can hold multiple acceptances (if you have until June 1st, make sure you withdraw from one by June 1st).
EpiphanyPlease said:does Duke call everyone that they want to take off the waitlist on the very first day (aka yesterday)? or should we also be expecting calls today?
OHare said:So how often do they make calls? Daily?
Hassler said:Good question. I want to know too. Looks like it's not today though, it's already 4pm Eastern Time.
The week with the most movement is almost over, and I'm still waiting. My Duke acceptance celebrations are put on hold.... 🙁
