Do they provide you with ear plugs or do we have to bring our own?

Thanks

I think it varies between test center. You are best off bringing your own. I've also heard of people not being able to use them unless they were sealed, but I think most places end up just checking to make sure they not used for cheating if they aren't sealed.

My testing center provided us with noise-blocking headphones (which were pretty tight and uncomfortable...). If you are concerned about noise, best bet is to bring your own.

Actually, somewhere in the AAMC outline it does say you could bring your own earplugs, provided they are in their original packaging. For me personally, I had bought a box of mack's earplugs but then the proctor told me to take a pair out before entering the "inspection room" and to put the remainder back in my locker. The guy was a jerk, and my walk back to the locker resulted in several awkward stares (but I returned them back, so all is good). Apparently few people actually bother bringing ear plugs (at least that was how I felt). At the inspection room, you get your finger prints taken, they also do a scan with that bar thing ...can't think of the name. And finally, they ask that you squeeze the earplugs in front of them. After that they will direct you to the proper seating location, where your test is awaiting you. How exciting!!

If you need ear plugs to focus, you will be a bad doctor.

Save the judgement for yourself. My test center was located right next to a highway, so even with the headphones you could hear cars zooming by and horns beeping. Ear plugs make all the difference.

It's to maximize performance. Not that you can't focus without them.

I was just attempting to maximize lolz... although is kind of crazy how paranoid and ritualistic people get in their approach. That said, there's no reason not to be comfortable when you waltz into the doom room. I myself donned the generic, orange, ear-crushing, runway-controller-esque headphones they had, which was good, because somehow 92% of test-takers has the sniffles in the middle of July.

Buy some earplugs from walmart and make sure they are unopened(I thought it was a joke when they said they were going to search them, but they did). I had a major cougher in my room so I was so grateful I could only hear occasional hacks during verbal. My earplugs prevent me from murdering someone while making verbal a less rectally widening experience, so definitely invest in them =)

I brought my own as well, though at my testing center they did not check them but in fact told me to make sure they were out of their original packaging prior to entering the actual test room. Brought 2 pairs in with me and threw their cheap head set on over top.

Hey hey better yet, you might be a bad doctor if... you make quick assumptions without asking for all the proper information.
