Edinburgh Conditional Offer

Hey guys, just got an e-mail saying I got a conditional offer to Edinburgh. Anybody know what the conditions usually are?

my acceptance to K-State was conditional that I: a) send them $100 to reserve my seat in the class b) complete and sign some forms c) if never attended KSU to send application fees d) complete all pre-requisite clases by the end of spring semester e) to send transcripts following the spring semester

i don't know what edinburgh's conditions are, but these were mine

Got it as well (international student). I'd think all offers of acceptance from all colleges are conditional because they'd stand to lose a good deal of money without stipulations. Just seems odd because they felt the need to capitalize and bold the conditional offer part, but I assume that's because that is the important part of the email that all applicants want to see first.

I received an email from Edinburgh offering UNconditional admission (also in bold and capital letters). Since I have already finished my undergrad and prereq classes, I'm guessing the conditional offer only applies to students who still have coursework to complete (so their admission depends on final spring transcripts, etc.)

my friends conditions were adv bio "B" and adv chem "B" and hugher physics "C"
but they dont normally ask for more than bio and chem

ucas is their application service. I'm from the USA so I applied through vmcas, they said they were sending the info this week, I'm not gonna stress over it.

Same. What I am going to stress over is how much time they allow to decide and 'hold' the spot since I have a school I'd prefer, but haven't heard anything from yet.

Is anyone planning on going to meet them in DC when they come? I've a Biochem exam that day, but trying to see if I can take it early so I can attend.

I was trying to decide whether or not it would be worth going. I think I am going to wait to decide until I get the acceptance packet they are sending by mail.

Same. What I am going to stress over is how much time they allow to decide and 'hold' the spot since I have a school I'd prefer, but haven't heard anything from yet.

I think I read somewhere (maybe on their VMCAS info sheet) that they don't usually require you to put down money and hold the spot until May, so I wouldn't worry much about that.

The University of Edinburgh uses the same paperwork for all undergraduate degrees (includes vet medicine). A conditional offer is made most often if the applicant is still earning grades or has incomplete courses - that means that this "condition" (in my case it was an "A" in biology, though not for vet med) must be met or they will retract the offer. An "unconditinal" offer means that they will take you as you stand today. I hope that helps.

No. I am a medical student in the U.S. I did a pharmacology degree at Edinburgh, so I'm familiar with what their offer means. I had a conditional offer after application, and I met their conditions - though I think the conditions came under separate cover from the first letter (the one described above). A couple of my friends did not meet their "conditional offer" and either failed to enroll or they were able to squeeze in if there were places left over after all the "unconditional and conditional-met" applicants enrolled.

If any other Juniors got their conditional offer that said "achieve degree with...." I called the admissions people this morning and they told me the wording was off and that you DO NOT need a degree just the prerequisites will do. PHEW

My condition was receiving a B or higher in Organometallic Chem, BioChem, Human Anatomy, and Statistics for the graduate entry program. Seems fair, but now I'm even more nervous about doing well in those classes

My conditions are getting Bs in Genetics, P-chem, and nutrition...not too bad either...
