Emory anyone??

Probably because Emory hasn't started handing out interviews yet, and the class of 2008 started last wednesday so there's no waitlist discussion to be had. Give it a few weeks.

EW...but I think I still want my secondary! and maybe I'll think about giving up my summer to go to Emory. It's still at the top of my list 👍

I didn't get a secondary yet.

yes but end M1 year in early May. that's earlier than most med schools.

Emory is updating its link for the secondary so it might take some time before you receive your secondary from them, so just sit tight. I know waiting in painful, but I think Emory is worth the wait 😀

If anyone has questions about Emory, I will try my best to answer them for you. Good luck everyone

Oh, I also failed to mention that I am not verified yet 😳 heh

 that's a convenient detail

I'd love to be talking bout Emory...their secondary is comin out Aug 1...so just give it a day or two and the masses will be groaning about Emory's secondary (myself included, I hope).

I heard that about 1/3 of their class went to Emory for undergrad? True?

I hope to God you are right, cause I'm at Emory now, and I would love to stay another 4 years in Atl. I know Emory does give some preference to undergrads, but they also give preference to GA residents.

What do you think you need to be competitive for the full and half tuition scholarships at Emory? 😱

I don't know about the actual percentage, but when I was there a lot of Emory undergrads went onto Emory med. A third of the class (~35 students) might be a stretch, but doesnt sound that far fetched...

considering the average numbers there are ~3.7 GPA and ~33 MCAT...you'd probably have to be an amazing applicant for one of the woodruff deals for med school. I know a dude who had a 3.9 and a 36, and got no love for those scholarships 😱

Yeah, Emory gives preference to residents of the southeast. It also gives preference to Georgia residents (about half of the class).

I'm an Emory alum, and when I was going through, I recall the number 33 pretty vividly (i.e. the number of Emory undergrads who went on to Emory med). Could be wrong, though.

It changes year to year. I think about a third are from Georgia and maybe something like 15 or so from Emory undergrad for this year (class of 2008). Interesting enough, this year the second most highly represented school is Harvard with a total of 10 kids. It's usually Emory, Ga. TEch and UGA, but I guess Emory's rep is slowly increasing with other top schools across the nation.

Emory's 2ndary isn't bad at all!! Just two 100 word essays....and answering a few simple questions about courses in the upcoming year. I take it Emory doesn't screen b/f sending their 2ndary??

They do a "light" screen as the career center pre-med advisor at Emory told me--if they don't reject people pre-secondary, then they're likely prioritizing applicants.

Well, that's good news....🙂 Off to finish the secondary!
