*Endo Interview Thread 2007*

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Any of you guys have the 2007-2008 ASDA guide for endo you want to sell? Curious about what it says.
It's hard to part with such an expensive piece of garbage. Even though it's still garbage, you just don't want to sell it away because you had to pay for it. Does that make any sense?

How much are you looking to buy it for?...I'd hate to sell it because it cost me $47.50 and I wouldn't feel right selling it to another human being for half that, (ASDA really knows how to nickel 'n' dime starving students) but I'm not sure I can give it up for what I think it's really worth.

Congratulations Jugga!

More endodontomaniacs all the time...

LuvEndo and Endoking, thanks for the love. This thread has become what it was supposed to be, a great resource for those applying now and for the future.

The cycle should be getting ready to hit full swing now that Labor Day has passed. Good luck to all out there applying!

Still waiting on that next phone call...😕😕😕

How many residents does Tufts take?
How many people do they interview?
It seems like everyone is getting interviewed there!

I know it doesn't say much, but I'd still like to see it. Send me a PM with an offer. Thanks.

Anyone know if UPenn is done offering interviews?

I'm guessing there's still some open spots, because I just called today to reschedule my interview there and they still had some open spots.

Anybody heard from OHSU or applied there?

Does your library have a copy? I'd look to see before you spent any money on it, it really is a piece of garbage like Loco said.

Sorry Marquette, but I've already got plans in Lincoln.

Sure was cool to meet EndoKing and DLux. I was really impressed with UMKC. Seems like a great place to go to endo school. Great facilities and everyone really seemed to like it there.

I was also surprised by how many interviewees were still in school: 4 or 5 out of 12. (or was it 14?)

Great meeting both of you guys also. Great residents, great director, great program, top notch facilities.

That would be a great place to spend two years.

Wow, I am very happy for you guys but when will schools like UW realize that you guys are getting all the interviews while the rest of us who may be as competitive are still on the praul. I mean, you can essentially get accepted to all the programs you interviewd but cant physically go there, right? So, my question is, why arent they being as generous with interview selections 😕

Endogirl, welcome to the party, and good luck with your interviews.

LuvEndo, here's a link to the other active Endo thread:

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=428986&page=2

Read post #79 by ElDienteLoco. I think he is spot on. The process should become less competitive as spots start being offered. It is simply WAY too early to know how it will all play out.

Just thinking of folks I talked to today, and my own situation, I can think of several programs that might be calling folks in the next week or so to fill interview slots because now scheduling conflicts have started to arise. Between that and acceptances, the next month is going to be a busy one. For now just make sure that every program has your application completed and the proper contact information.

Remember, all you need is one interview!

I agree--it was also interesting to see the high caliber of all the applicants. I knew everyone would be good, but I was very impressed.

For those of you with an interview at Baylor and Einstein on the same day:

Has anyone tried calling for an alternative date for Baylor? I contacted the program director at Einstein for another date, but it's not possible...

Good luck with that. I think Dr. Glickman means business about interviewing everyone on the same day. Maybe he'd give you a chance, though.

you're absolutely right! Those two mean business and I'm just going to look like an idiot for asking!!!

It's kind of like the phone call I got from Marquette yesterday. They wanted me to interview at 3:00 pm at Marquette and I have a 9:00 am interview in Lincoln, Nebraska. I almost had a way figured out to fly from Omaha to Milwaukee and make it, but I would have had to skip lunch with the residents in Nebraska and probably would have been late to Marquette. Rather than the good possibility of messing up two interviews, I decided to just stay with my Nebraska interview (also with some good advice from Endoking).

If I were you, I would definitely choose one or the other. I've heard that Einstein works their residents to death (maybe to justify the stipend) and I've heard good (current resident) and bad (previous interviewee) about Baylor. Good luck in your decision and maybe I'll see you in Dallas depending on your decision.

Some more advice in case you're still thinking about calling Dr. Glickman, when he first invited me to come, I already had an interview set up with Penn for the same day, so I asked him if there was any possibility of another day and he said there was no flexibility on his side. So I told him that I'd be there in Dallas and managed to change my Penn date later. He might really want you so he may make an exception for you, but for me he wouldn't budge🙄 Good Luck--I'd say go to the Einstein interview, but that could just be because I didn't apply there🙄

They called back today to tell me that the actual interview is on Saturday. Now if only there was a cheap flight from Lincoln to Milwaukee! ($444 one-way😱)

I think they probably want you there so much that they will be holding a special interview just for you on Saturday. Must be nice to be so sought after😉

Got the call from USC today. My 1st one thank God! Good luck to all

Good job, 2thmaker and Loco! Thanks everyone for the advice/suggestions!

Got a call from Louisville today, so...here it goes:

Date(s) offered for interviews: 9/24, 9/25

Now, I was thinking of triple-booking myself for the 24th, but I remembered I wasn't bionic....not yet anyways!

2thmaker Congratulations! That's great. Any info on interview dates at USC?

Endogirl good on you too. I was trying to figure out two interviews on one day...three would definitely be quite the feat.

Invite was by phone, today 9/10. Dates offered were 9/17, 9/19, 9/20. Half-hour interview and half-hour facility tour.

Anybody else been sitting by the phone constantly since Friday?!

I'm sure Dr. Kulild made his calls for offers already, but I'll still have my phone on me at all times (even under my pillow!):scared:

Hi elipar. Seen your name on dental town. When is your interview at USC? They offered me Friday at 8:30; couldn't take any other day off b/c of work and they said they don't interview on Tuesdays.

May have missed it in previous posts, but is the deadline for UCSF still October 1st? If it isn't, I can scratch that one off my list! Good luck to all

What a great program(fingers crossed)...😕😕

Hi 2thmaker,

I didn't make an appointment to USC yet. I'm shooting for Thursday since I'll be at the VA, so I'm going for a 2-for-1. As far as UCSF, I went to their interview yesterday. They're still planning on interviewing more applicants for at least another week, possibly two, so don't scratch them off your list yet. I got my call on 8/27, but one of the others that I interviewed with got his call on 9/3, so you still have a shot. Although their deadline is October 1st, they said that if they wait until then to interview then all of the good applicants will have already committed to other programs, so that's why they're interviewing early. Next year they plan on moving the deadline up. Good luck at USC. Since you're on DT, search for a thread on endo interviews that was posted about a year ago. It's got some useful advice. Some of the endodontists on the board are also willing to give advice. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have as well, though I think I'm in the same position everyone else is in... more questions than answers!

I applied to Ohio State as well and still heard nothing. The same goes for Virginia...I'm not really sure what takes an entire month to decide! And Chicago?!?

2thmaker,

to answer your question...I think interviews have gone out for Oregon already, but I didn't apply there, so I'm not sure.

VCU is interviewing this week for sure, but I don't know if they are doing more interviews later. I'm still waiting on OSU and Chicago also.

Nice to hear everybody has a couple of interviews under their belts. Hope you guys get the phone calls!

BTW, anybody applied to UCLA? or know anybody who applied?

Check the other endo thread. There's some info on UCLA.

On another note, does anyone know which schools get stipends? I just found out that UCSF offers a stipend, something I didn't expect. I know UCLA does and the VA hospitals as well. Any others?
